This was never worth tanking the economy over. With all that's known about it, with the minuscule number of people who passed away from it and conversely, with all the people who got it that turned out to be just fine - all the hype isn't worth it. Crime will skyrocket here in NYC. No question about that.

Long time New Yorkers know that we've had enormous financial clout on a national scale. Over the last 40 years, we made parts of Florida the 6th Borough. That's because our real estate was so valuable. Retirees were assured of the good life when they retired to Boca Del Vista, Phase 3.

Fast forward 60 days and beyond. I'm beginning to think those of us who have metro NYC real estate will see our values plummet and the market of potential buyers shrivel up. Many of us will expire before things turn around.

A re-ordering will take place. Will the cities empty out? I'm not sure. But I'm also thinking that globalization as we know it is over. Maybe we ought to focus on the USA, building up our country, our manufacturing and agricultural bases. It's a total disgrace that we don't make our medications, effing masks and countless other items. Relying on others is OVER. The great national calling for todays young adults is to rebuild our country. So much of the recent military adventurism has been an obscene squandering of resources, this from someone who served and is beyond resentful of how it's played out. After a decade of prosperity and we as a nation are more in debt than ever!!!!

Default Severe Pandemic Restrictions for NYC Coming 3/24

Here is a snippet of the briefing I was given.

********************

The Governor's 10-point "Safer City" plan applies only to individuals and businesses within New York City:

1. Effective at 11:59PM on Tuesday, March 24, all non-CRITICAL businesses in New York City will be closed.
2. All gatherings of individuals of any size outside of the home, unless for purposes of CRITICAL business, are not permissible for any reason.
3. Public transportation will operate on a substantially reduced schedule. Individuals should limit potential exposure by spacing out at least six feet from other riders.
4. Healthy individuals are not permitted to leave their home unless traveling to CRITICAL businesses such as grocery stores, gas stations, and banks; to perform work at a CRITICAL business, or to escort sick individuals to a health care facility.
5. Sick individuals should not leave their home unless to receive medical care and only after a telehealth visit to determine if leaving the home is in the best interest of their health.
6. Entry in and out of New York City will be restricted.
7. At the request of law enforcement personnel: Individuals LEAVING New York City for work must produce a letter of employment, work badge, or healthcare professional license. Individuals leaving the city indefinitely must produce a valid photo ID that lists a residence outside of New York City.
8. At the request of law enforcement personnel: Individuals ENTERING New York City for work must produce a letter of employment, work badge, or healthcare professional license. Permanent residents of New York City may also enter by producing a valid photo ID with a residence listed within New York City.

No. It would have been much more likely for this to happen after 2008. This is an externality. It may be happening in NYC, but it wasn't caused by NYC. Once this is over, not much will change.

News flash: all those homeless people already found out that these things don't sort out on their own when you don't have the money to pay rents and prices.

This is what pisses me off. You have politicians and the mainstream media spreading disinformation. Both have access to experts in the field, especially the occupier-in-office in office and choose not to use them first and foremost. People are buying hand sanitizer far more than soap. We need to be more weary about where our information is coming from. There is such a lack of coordination as well.

Point is there is no need for generation bashing because they all have their idiosyncrasies. Some millenials are pretty stupid thinking that they are invincible and partying on college campuses (before the dorms were closed) and on the beaches. It finally seems that most have gotten the message, but this was the last age group that finally processed the message. Their behavior was pretty selfish because they were told over and over that even if they didn't exhibit symptoms, they could be carriers and could get other people sick.
There have been posts by people in the last few days, threads, that were closed here by baby boomers calling for people to gather to protest in time square to protest or to simply defy stay at home ordinances. My point was to those lambasting millenials that dumb is in all generations. Being old does not make you wise and being young doesn't make you selfish. It's your individual values.
