The Senate keeps delaying the vote to override Gov. Cooper's veto of the state budget bill because all of the Democratic senators kept showing up in order to prevent the GOP from pulling the same stunt that they pulled in the House. Jackson wanted the Senate to vote on the veto override while all 50 senators were present and, well, Jerry Tillman's comment in the video says it all...as does Jackson's reaction afterwards.

I'm curious how many folks that are outraged at the NCGOP for not bringing up the vote for the budget are also angry at the HOR up in DC for not bringing up the USMCA for a vote.

It sounds like more typical politics in this case. When you control a political house you get to decide what to bring to the table.

except of course that they aren't remotely the same scenario.

USMCA is still being tweaked and Pelosi has confirmed she will bring it to a vote when it's finalized, and she will support it then. Pretty much 180 opposite of lying cheating NCGOP who want to try to disenfranchise the millions of North Carolinians who elected Democratic state Senators by sneaking in legislation specifically when they don't have the opportunity to vote one way or the other

"Finished" is quite subjective, one might almost say it's purposefully subjective in that it's up entirely up to Pelosi's discretion haha.

If she supported it, it'd be done, but it's not. Instead of helping out the working class she's trying to impeach the President lol. That doesnt help my paycheck at all.

Both sides play the political game, and watching one get upset at the other for doing the same thing is hysterical.

Whataboutism, also known as whataboutery, is a variant of the tu quoque logical fallacy
that attempts to discredit an opponent's position by charging them with hypocrisy
without directly refuting or disproving their argument.
It is particularly associated with Soviet and Russian propaganda.

Stop with the false equivalency garbage. The issue here is the GOP's behavior in the legislature and nothing else. And it's shameful, embarrassing and outrageous the way they're treating the Democrats and making the state suffer as a whole because of their childish games. Millions of North Carolinian's salary increases, health coverage and much more are being held hostage just because of their egos in trying to pass an override that shows no sign of occurring given the solid opposition of the Democrats. In a normal General Assembly, we'd have some compromise on legislation and the lawmakers would've been home months ago. Instead, we have these soulless types laughing and mocking their colleagues. What a pathetic development indeed.

As a lifelong resident of the Old North State, I'm sickened and disgusted by these actions. And I'm looking forward to many of these politicians getting their deserved comeuppance at the ballot box this time next year, now that their gerrymandered districts are being altered for the better of us all.

Hypocrisy, also known as a double standard, is caused by blindly following a political ideology or religious system. Arguments typically begin with "Look at group X, they're so bad" while ignoring the identical actions of Group Y. No resolution can be reached until the real problems are dealt with in both groups X AND Y.
