There are fewer blacks in the US than whites in poverty! There are about 40 millions blacks in the US... but about 120 million whites in poverty!
Most of the whites are not CEOs, doctors or financial investors... most of them work at Wal-Mart, in restaurants or other services that don't pay very well.

Remember a lot of employers do not want to hire blacks or Hispanics because the negative stereotype of laziness, drug abuse, and gang relations. What is irritating is your entitlement that because you were a poor white person you deserve to hold a scornful and paternalistic attitude toward those who are different than you.
What is scornful and paternalistic? He said he was a poor white kid but escaped it through his hard work. My husband did the same and I have mentioned that on several threads here. It's not about race, for the last time. It's about personal responsibility and not relying on others for a handout.
My employer was the U.S. Army and they will take anybody. I used the G.I. Bill to pay for my education. No excuses here; no "white privilege." Just hard work.
You act like NO Black Amerians have served in the armed forces and then continued on to use the G.I Bill to go to college.

Yes, you have to look at percentages. Something that everyone overlooks when they make this statement is the overall white and black population percentages. If you take that into consideration, a lower percentage of the overall white population is in poverty.

Why else do they show up at poor high schools 24/7 and at richer ones not at all. They also target their commercials directly at minorities. Obviously they want minorities to fight their wars... its a win-win situation for them. its a wonder it took them until Vietnam to figure this out.
You're mistaken yet again. The Army will not just take anybody. They will not take people who do not have a high school diploma, nor will they take people who are out of shape. There are lots of hoops to jump through, trust me on that one. They do not target any race in particular, but if they did, it's because minorities need a hand up more than anybody else, and the Army can do that for anyone willing to commit (granted they pass the other requirements).

I'm sure some of those 40 acres had some trees they could use to build a boat, and since some had skills, I'm sure they could fashion nails out of some iron or whatever. Use sap from the trees like glue. If the whites could do it in the 1400s-1700s, the blacks could surely do it in the 1800s. Another excuse.
Because the land was cheaper and the opportunities were bigger. Why did the blacks didn't leave when their services weren't needed anymore and they were free do go wherever they wanted?
What were formers slaves "given"? Some schools a Freedman's Bureau and not much else after the Civil War. How were they supposed to buy land when in many cases the resources they had was their own labor? In many cases formers slaves went on to be share croppers are menial wages that barely allowed them to survive. In many cases economic slavery replaced chattel slavery.
If you don't have money your freedom to "Do whatever you want" is limited. Jim Crow segregation, voter intimidation and rampant discrimination where used to economically disenfranchise Black Americans.
The Freedman's Bureau Bill, which created the Freedman's Bureau, was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln and was intended to last for one year after the end of the Civil War. It was passed on March 3, 1865, by Congress to aid former slaves through legal food and housing, oversight, education, health care, and employment contracts with private landowners. It became a key agency during Reconstruction, assisting freedmen (freed ex-slaves) in the South. The Bureau was part of the United States Department of War. Headed by Union Army General Oliver O. Howard, the Bureau was operational from 1865 to 1872. It was disbanded under President Ulysses S. Grant.
At the end of the war, the Bureau's main role was providing emergency food, housing, and medical aid to refugees, though it also helped reunite families. Later, it focused its work on helping the freedmen adjust to their conditions of freedom. Its main job was setting up work opportunities and supervising labor contracts. It soon became, in effect, a military court that handled legal issues. By 1866, it was attacked by Southern whites for organizing blacks against their former masters. Although some of their subordinate agents were unscrupulous or incompetent, the majority of local Bureau agents were hindered in carrying out their duties by the opposition of former Confederates, the lack of a military presence to enforce their authority, and an excessive amount of paperwork.
Now compare this to what Cuban immigrants were given when they arrived in the United States in the 1960's.
Political upheaval in Cuba created new waves of Cuban immigrants to the U.S. In 1959, after the Cuban revolution led by Fidel Castro, a large Cuban exodus began as the new government allied itself with the Soviet Union and began to introduce communism. From 1960 to 1979, hundreds of thousands of Cubans left Cuba and began a new life in the United States. Most Cuban Americans that arrived in the United States initially came from Cuba's educated upper and middle classes. Between December 1960 and October 1962 more than 14,000 Cuban children arrived alone in the U.S. Their parents were afraid that their children were going to be sent to some Soviet bloc countries to be educated and they decided to send them to the States as soon as possible. This program was called Operation Pedro Pan (Operacion Pedro Pan). When the children arrived in Miami they were met by representatives of Catholic Charities and they were sent to live with relatives if they had any or were sent to foster homes, orphanages or boarding schools until their parents could leave Cuba. In order to provide aid to recently arrived Cuban immigrants, the United States Congress passed the Cuban Adjustment Act in 1966. The Cuban Refugee Program provided more than $1.3 billion of direct financial assistance. They also were eligible for public assistance, Medicare, free English courses, scholarships, and low-interest college loans. Some banks even pioneered loans for exiles who did not have collateral or credit but received help in getting a business loan. These loans enabled many Cuban Americans to secure funds and start up their own businesses. With their Cuban-owned businesses and low cost of living, Miami, Florida and Union City, New Jersey (dubbed "Little Havana-on-the Hudson")[9] were the preferred destinations for many immigrants and soon became the main centers for Cuban American culture. Union City had the opportunities offered by the embroidery industry. According to author Lisandro Perez, Miami was not particularly attractive to Cubans prior to the 1960s.[10] It was not until the mass exodus of the Cuban exiles in 1959 that Miami started to become a preferred destination. Westchester, Florida within Miami-Dade County, stands as the area most populated by Cubans and Cuban Americans in the United States, followed by Hialeah, Florida in second.[11]
Because by the time they were emancipated they had no connection whatsoever to Africa. 400 years of raping your slaves and the slaves taking their master's name = culture swap. If you think you would fit in whatever European country your ancestors came from escaping persecution once they stopped persecuting you (ie a couple hundred years later after your fmaily had been homogenized into american culture for x number of generations) you're sadly mistaken.
