Mychal Denzel-Smith on CNN suggested that in the George Zimmerman trial underway for the murder of Trayvon Martin, it isn’t Zimmerman who is on trial, but Martin and black manhood.
“To believe Zimmerman’s story, I think, because to me it reads like a very cartoonish version of what a 17-year-old black boy would say and do in this situation,” Denzel-Smith said. “I think you know, to believe that Trayvon Martin was to jump out of the bushes and to approach George Zimmerman and to strike him in the face without any type of provocation sounds to me like you have to believe that there is an inherent criminality and inherent violence in 17-year-old black boys that you see.”
Well Mr. Denzel-Smith, there is because it is true. Just look at the jails filled with them across the country.
Oh, man, black manhood. I just threw up in my mouth!
I disagree. Race is the elephant in the room in this trial.
Only for those that made it so. To the rest of us, it's a case of rather one person used reasonable self defense to protect himself from death or severe harm. The race of the players simply doesn't matter.
The testimony is to counter the previous testimony that GZ took "MMA Style Training." After all this, the jury has to wonder, why haven't we heard about Trayvon's past? The absence of testimony could weigh heavily on them regardless of any instruction from the judge about not considering anything that wasn't introduced as evidence.
Hmmmm, this witness has said that Zimmerman was a diligent student and that he continued the classes until after the "incident" happened. He says Zimmerman focused on "grappling"........so Zimmerman had in fact been taking classes in re self defense. "He was diligent and a hard worker"....and this guy is comparing Zimmerman to a Competitive Athlete so he's saying that Zimmerman needed years of work to become "proficient" as in comparison to a "Competitive Athlete".....a pretty HIGH standard.
"Improved himself a lot, lost a lot of weight"..........in other words, he was progressing. If George knew that he was such a poor student, why would he get out to follow someone or to look for an address in an area in which he suspected a "criminal" was wandering around?
The trainer says that after a year GZ was still non-athletic and useless at punching and grappling (1 on scale of to 10), while Donnelly (the ex medic) said GZ hung out at his office because he had a full fridge and lots of snacks.
He didn't try to fight. He went for his gun without throwing a punch. Punk.
THANK YOU! He didn't try to fight back, there's no evidence of that whatsoever. Which is what would have been warranted, unlike deadly force which was not warranted.
I believe he was trying to get to his gun from the moment the fight started, or even when he first encountered Trayvon in the alley-way.
