The testimony is to counter the previous testimony that GZ took "MMA Style Training." After all this, the jury has to wonder, why haven't we heard about Trayvon's past? The absence of testimony could weigh heavily on them regardless of any instruction from the judge about not considering anything that wasn't introduced as evidence.
We haven't heard about Zimmerman's either. His past arrests, history of aggression, the cousin who said he molested her and does not like Black people will not be brought up in court. The MMA stuff is relevant since they had a fight.
Hmmmm, this witness has said that Zimmerman was a diligent student and that he continued the classes until after the "incident" happened. He says Zimmerman focused on "grappling"........so Zimmerman had in fact been taking classes in re self defense. "He was diligent and a hard worker"....and this guy is comparing Zimmerman to a Competitive Athlete so he's saying that Zimmerman needed years of work to become "proficient" as in comparison to a "Competitive Athlete".....a pretty HIGH standard.
"Improved himself a lot, lost a lot of weight"..........in other words, he was progressing. If George knew that he was such a poor student, why would he get out to follow someone or to look for an address in an area in which he suspected a "criminal" was wandering around?
Probably because he didn't think the guy was going to sucker punch him. And because he wasn't right on his heels following him.

If he is my neighborhood watch, he better watch my neighborhood, get out of the car, fight as best you can if assaulted, and shoot if you feel your life is threatened.

Somewhat on topic. This is the type of facility most should train at, one where the goal is clearly stated, and people are not forced into fighting. I knew of several Fred Villare studios of "get a new color belt each week" type of franchise outlets that produced very little in the way of results. Good ideology this man has. Not everyone can be Chuck Norris.
If I remember correctly, GZ gave a graphic description of the way he tied up Martin's arms in order to shoot him. I think Serino winced when he described it. Good question from the prosecution.
