No. I think the comparison to polygamy is ludicrous and have not defended it or offered that hypothesis.(I think OP offered it tongue in check just by reviewing his text) What I above wrote is exactly what I meant.

Rome also fell from spreading itself too thin. I'm not arguing with you, but just wanted to point that part out as well. In fact history has shown us time and again what happens to empires that spread themselves too thin. Perhaps the United States should learn from history so that it doesn't happen to us.
