The lunacy of the Christian fundies knows no bounds. Timberlake Christian School told the grandparents of an 8-year old girl she would not be welcome back because she has short hair, prefers wearing pants, likes baseball cards, and her BB gun. According to the school, she could only return only if "her dress and behavior ... follow suit with her God-ordained identity." No transgender or gay issues here, she knows she is a girl and what that means. When discussing sexuality with a doctor, the grandmother was told she shouldn't worry about that until puberty, to which a school employee told her to find a "Christian doctor".
It is a private business and they can do what they want. I too, heard the story, but not much in detail. The hourly news does give us a lot of info. If, indeed it happened just as reported, unless the school policy was spelled out prior to her starting the school, the school needs to get a life. In fact it sounds like they need to anyway. As for what the employee told grandma, that is nothing but hear say.
Private school - they can choose their student body.
So she did a christian like act (the little girl chopped off her waist-length hair to donate it to cancer patients) and didn't grow her hair back and gets told to hit the road. She is more christ-like then the schools administration. I guess christ himself would not be allowed into the school since he had long hair and would be accused of homosexuality or alternative gender identity.
IMO its stupid to even consider sexual roles with kids at this age. Not that you will change someone later on but at this point a kid is just a kid and should be allowed to be just a kid.
It's just as bad on the opposite end where parents want to make their kids look like adults.
The article did make me wonder what the grandmother meant when she noted that she would love the girl even more if later on she was attracted to girls.
Perhaps she didn't come across right or the source misquoted her.

I took that as she 'wouldn't love her less'........ but those who get their panties in a knot over ever word said, will.
It sounds like this school sees girls only in a traditional/conservative stereotype way. Modern girls have short hair, wear pants and participate in many activities that in the past for considered just for boys.

How does this effect you personally?
Exactly. If you don't like the way the school does business, hit the road.
IMO, it doesn't matter if it is a bakery, or a photographer, or a florist, or a school, or the local pub. If you don't like what they do, just shut up and go away!

You have a good point, but that doesn't change the fact that the school can make its own rules.
