IMO, if people are watering lawns and golf courses... there isn't REALLY a water problem.

People will use water recklessly during this drought until nothing comes out of their taps.

The only way to stop it is to raise rates.

How expensive? Maybe 20 percent more, tops? MOST of the cost of food ain't from paying farm workers.

OP,

For you to be upset about this shows that you know nothing about how detrimental this drought is to our ecosystem.

This has the potential to harm the immediate population and the USA in general in ways that responsible adults smoking a plant cannot even begin to compare to.

The only thing they can do is raise the rates on water so high that people naturally conserve. They can't really impose a water use ban like this but they can charge you enough that you think twice before you use water.

I expect the earth-god wackos to become even more shrill with their never ending rules for Californian's daily lives.
There will be an uptick in people exiting the State as well. I feel sorry for Oregon and Washington. They will get another dose of busy bodies moving in and telling the natives how things are done in California.

So now maybe the cops will crack down on ganags if they think the real guns, that they carry illegally, are thought to be squirt guns containing water.

What to you think California should do about the drought?

So are the politicians and wealthy of California going to stop watering golf courses, stop installing swimming pools & hot tubs in their homes, keeping their existing pools & hot tubs filled with water, watering their lawns, and watering lawns on government properties? Are water companies installing electronic water meters that send water usage data back to the company instantly? Will each home be allotted a certain amount of water usage based upon the number and age of home occupants (with exemptions for politicians & their wealthy donors)?
