... The Federal government manages both social Security and Medicare at far lower administrative costs.
Instead of either the ACA or whatever the Republicans are trying to create and sell to the foolish I suggest that health care providers be paid from an expansion of the existing Medicare system. ...
I agree, Medicare For All, as Bernie Sanders proposed, is the best and most practical solution. One way to do it is with a Grand Bargain:
1. Full repeal of Obamacare.
2. Drop the age limit on Medicare from 65 to zero, Medicare For All.
3. Raise FICA taxes sufficiently to pay for Medicare For All and to secure Social Security. Raise the income ceiling on Soc Sec from $118k to $250k.
4. Cut income tax rates and a sharp cut in corporate tax rates.
This could be done if we had a competent and imaginative leader in the White House.
Last year my Obamacare was $4800. This year it's $6400. Obamacare's benefits were front loaded and its real costs only came later after he left office.
I hope you realize the distinction between an expensive medical procedure performed by experts necessary to save someone's life, and just ordinary ER work meant to stabilize who ever comes in the ER.
The first is not covered by any public insurance program - you get the garden of the mill coverage, anything special you're SOL or the very least need to pay for it.
Everyone's life has a price.
You have me confused. Maybe you can give me an example.
Medical/surgical emergencies are covered without any dollar limit or ability to pay.

Trump knows debt. So he might know national debt, where we can cover any or all of the above. And yet tax no one one extra penny. If we the people so desire. And yes that might create more inflation. Or not.

Well we had one such leader but unfortunately the Repugs thwarted him left and right on the universal healthcare plan which they never wanted in the first place. Obamacare would have been alot more successful if Repugs weren't so busy practicing the partisan cr*p and just work for America's best interests...
I agree with you on expanding Medicare (or even Medicaid). We also need to do more though, we need to put caps on how much insurance companies and pharma companies are making and encourage people to buy insurance so we don't have such a large high risk pool...
If we had Clinton in the White House now, instead of Bozo the Clown, we would see some improvements. But instead, we are stuck with a guy who is pitching a disastrous plan that he doesn't know squat about but he calls 'a beautiful plan' anyway...
The subsidy is gone, the limit on how high premiums can go for people over 50 is gone, and the premium is much higher. So NO, not what someone at that age pays NOW. It's much more.
Basically people over 50 but under 67 are going to get hammered under the new plan.
With Trumpcare/Ryancare, someone 50-65 could have their premiums almost double compared to ACA premiums. After age 65, most become eligible for Medicare, even if their Social Security Full Retirement age is higher.
Yep, people 50 and over will get massive premium increases. Many of these people are already retired, especially as they get older. Some of them started collecting early social security at 62 but they aren't eligible for Medicare until 65.
