If the government provides all, they have no incentive to work.

Bible says, if you refuse to work you shouldn't eat.

For those who are crippled, sickly , etc.. the safety net is for them only. Not for able bodied lazy people who want all for nothing.

Suppose they could line up for the ag fields like the migrant workers do..but it's hard to live on that living too. Plus americans don't want to pick lettuce and tomatoes.
Since you didn't bother to capitalize "americans", I will do it for you. Just change it to "I".

Like that old song says; "you can help yourself but don't you take too much".

A home is just generally bricks and mortar, you make it comfortable and homely yourself through fictures, fittings and furnishings.

They should only get a cot and one meal a day at taxpayer expense.

One meal a day? So you're advocating malnourishment? The average meal has only 700 calories, eating less than 1,500 calories per day is starvation and deficient of nutrients

Whatever happened to the poor farm? Or the poor house? My dad always said we were putting him in the poor house. That seems like something we should bring back.

To the person above who said those who live in affordable housing shouldn't have a washer/ dryer----seriously that is not a luxury that is a basic need, everybody deserves clean clothing, bedding and other linens.
Going to the laundry mat can be very expensive for folks with very little money.

I think the veterans deserve the best we have to offer. They fought for our country. Everyone else who qualifies deserve clean, safe and decent housing.

A lot of people here don't seem to care at all, sad.
Exactly, well said. Anyone who thinks the poor, the disabled, veterans, and the poor elderly should be in 'uncomfortable' housing should be made to live there first and see how they feel. Its basic compassion, something that everyone should have been taught by their parents, and its a real shame that there are people on this thread lacking in this.

This is like the thread I created a few weeks ago, where I stated that conservatives think people need to be in squalor to have any "motivation" to work. And the responses here are bearing that out.....
