LOL at that reciting a pledge of allegiance to a flag is the benchmark of being "a good American". Way to set the bar!

Violence is not the answer to ignorance but teaching the kids why we recite the pledge might actually instill a bit of pride for their country in them.
If you read the article, you'd see he did have an answer. I know, reading is hard.

Incidentally, if you polled children who did recite the pledge their reasons for doing so, what sort of answers would you get? National pride, patriotism, love of country? Or "I dunno. We hafta".

Well, when you consider what kind of people we're talking about, the bar isn't very high to begin with.

The funny thing about the comments of some of the righties here is, the pledge says, "... with liberty and justice for all." By forcing somebody to say something they might not want to say, they are are completely ignoring the liberty part of the pledge. Liberty includes the right to dissent, which includes the right to sit out the pledge of allegiance.

Some of the righties here are as statist as the communists they revile. The whole forced-loyalty-to-the-state thing they would like everyone to follow is straight out of Stalin's or Mao's playbook.

Oh yeah, and as I've pointed out before, the pledge, as we (largely) know it today, was penned by a self-proclaimed Christian SOCIALIST. Oh the irony that it's been co-opted by the right as a litmus test of patriotism!

True, true. The people here calling a child "trash" for exercising his most basic American rights here are the real losers. Their lives must be kind of sad for them to read this article (or rather, read a post ABOUT an article because reading an article is hard) and decide this is what is to blame for any perceived downfall of American society.

Here in The United States of America , in the year of 2017 " Teachers cannot use violence against theirs students ".... this teacher is history and if not it's only because of institutionalized racism....

It is NEVER okay for a teacher to put their hands on another student (unless there's true imminent physical danger).

These BLM morons are flaming bad feelings toward black people, racism is growing at a rate not seen in decades because of thier whining. Tired of them.......
What in the WORLD makes you think this child is part of BLM? Is every black person a member of BLM?

Also - sitting still during the pledge of allegiance isn't exactly 'disruptive'. The Teacher made it disruptive.

I also didn't realize one random on the internet such as yourself was the voice for the nation. Please, tell us more about the nation! How is it feeling today? is it glum or glad?
Sad!

I mean, that is the answer you would get out of 90% of schoolchildren. I recited it every day but I didn't think about the words, or what they meant; we were all just doing as we were told.

I hope you would encourage the other kids to read, since you clearly didn't read the article.

Would you also ask the fellow students to explain why they stand?
