As No_Recess said, he is a politician like the rest of them. Russia is just like America. It has the same power structure, it has the same institutions, it has the same interests.

If all of this was as true and obvious as you claim, why is he even president? Why does he win elections? Are the elections not real? At least, as real as ours?
I think most of what you read about Putin is at best exaggerated, and at worst completely fabricated.
The story is, some guy in Russia who said mean things about Putin gets murdered, and the claim is that Putin had him killed. Yet, millions of Americans say mean things about Trump every day. Does that mean if one of them gets murdered, Trump personally ordered it?
You would think that if Putin was such a killer, who wielded such absolute control over Russia, that no one would dare run against him.

I'm not a huge Romney fan myself, but I'm not sure what his religion has to do with any of this. How are his comments on Russia, the military, the economy or any of the other things you disagree with him on figure into the fact that he's a Mormon. If he were any other religion and had said exactly the same things you're taking issue with, would you be saying, "Romney is a Lutheran idiot," or "Romney is a Catholic idiot"? I doubt it very much. Somehow, if you can't badmouth someone sufficiently based on the pertinent facts, you can throw in a mention of his religion and that might tip the scales and make you sound like you know what you're talking about.
And America has to have its way around the world exactly why?
Every country in the world, from a superpower to the smallest island in the Pacific, leverages what power it has to get its way. To think otherwise is naive.
One can only hope that the most powerful countries have an ethos of benevolence in addition to serving their own.
