Don't know much about the subject, eh?

Almost all professionals see torture as the tool of last resort..good only for when time constraints are super tight..and there is no other way. Why? Because it is unreliable..a subject will tell you anything to make the pain go away..or..if he/she is tough..they'll fake a capitulation..and feed you misinformation. A subject knows that once torture begins..their life is over..Guantanamo is the best they can hope for..more often..they find themselves buried.

This is not to be confused with long-term interrogation, where a subject's mind is slowly broken by the application of psychological stressers, and/or drugs.. But even that..can be chancy. At least then information can be checked and verified.

You want to punish the bad guys..not unreasonable--but if plying Achmed with whores and pills saves thousands of lives--is it not the way to go?

Is it? What if Germany disregards that nicety? What if other diplomatic repercussions ensue? Is she really worth it...really?

Good guys don't torture? And good guys don't kill innocents, good guys don't lie, good guys don't cheat, good guys don't do a whole lot of things that every government including ours does in a perfect world.

I'd love to know exactly which world you live in 'cause it's not this one, the one called reality...
I guess the concept that we should be better than that..escapes you, eh?

Kind of shoots to hell Hillary's recent claim that Trump doesn't want women to work. If Obama hired her to be the first woman CIA director, she'd be on the cover of Time magazine with him. But we know what hypocrites the Dems are.

The European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights filed a legal intervention with the German Federal Public Prosecutor aimed at getting a warrant for the arrest of this woman, who not only oversaw - but allegedly participated in the torture.

She's responsible for the destruction of videotaped evidence of it. She sounds like another Hillary.

Go here:

and click on the pdf called Germany_Submission_Gina Haspel_CIA_Torture_2017066.pdf (416.7 KiB)

Sick stuff.

Way to keep it classy.

So she sounds like a perfect match for the CIA which has been that way for decades.

It also wasn't torture. Liberals (in both parties) made that fallacy up out of thin air.

Haspel, a career C.I.A. employee, took part in another of the agency’s darkest moments: the destruction, in 2005, of video tapes of the interrogation of Zubaydah and a second suspect, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, at whose torture she was present, three years before.
OMG! She got their nasal passages wet, and made them uncomfortable with no damage?

And she destroyed tapes and other records??? Who does she think she is? Hillary Clinton?

Sounds to me like she's the right person in the right job at the right time. Someone the terrorists might actually be afraid of, for a change.

You do remember the terrorists, don't you, libbies? The people who have killed thousands of innocent Americans, here and abroad? The people the CIA are supposed to find and get information from, to prevent them from killing countless more? Or are you so obsessed with bashing Trump that you forgot about such unimportant things?

How would you like it if "libbies" spoke down to you the way you spoke down in this post? You do remember common courtesy, don't you, Roboteer? Simple manners that allow people to communicate effectively, rather than putting people on the offensive?

Waterboarding is torture. We say it is torture when our soldiers are waterboarded, and if it was all legal and above-board, then why did she destroy the records?

There is no basis for torture. It is not productive. And it has nothing to do with Trump. People on this forum were posting their objections to torture well before even Obama became president. Because it's a matter of principle. You do understand what a principle is, Roboteer?
