HHS wants to define gender as determined “on a biological basis that is clear, grounded in science, objective and administrable,” according to the memo.
If enacted, it also would do away with a series of moves by the Obama administration to recognize a person’s gender as an individual’s choice and not determined by their sex assigned at birth.
Sex is not inherently binary. Even biological sex is not binary. Many, many conditions can result in intersex. And some biological conditions, like a single point mutation of AR5 reductase can result in children being born completely physically female and during puberty becoming completely physically male. Those people should not be ignored under the law.
To appease the new left, why not simply do away with race too, while we are at it? This way it won't matter, whatever skin color, race, or ethnicity a person wants to be. Just put human on the ID card and be done with it
Your ID card has race on it? What state has race listed on ID cards?
Can't believe it took this long for the federal government to state the obvious, under the law you are male or female. Seems we've been adding a letter to the LGBTABCDEF123456@%^%@...etc etc nonsense pretty much every day.
And I am still waiting for English to be made the official language of the US... these laws weren't needed back in the good old days.
Problem is most people just recall their sixth grade biology class and that is the limit of their understanding of sex. Also how they also can end up being anti-vaxxers.
There are more possible combinations than just XX and XY.
I am the OP, and the disparagement is very much merited. It started off as "LG", for Lesbian (female) or Gay (male). Then it became "LGB", for Bisexual, fine. But turns out some people are pyschologically male/female but biologically different so they cross dress or even go through surgery, so there you had "LGBT", I think most people can accept that.
But that wasn't enough, because in the 21st century everyone is a special "unique" snowflake and you have to "identify" them with their own ultra-precise sexual label. People weren't happy with those buckets and insisted on adding Q/QUE-ER, I/Intersex, AAA/Asexual/Aromamantic(lol)/Ally, PP/Pansexual/Polygamous, K/Kinky(lolol) so lets see we are at "LGBTQIAAAPPK" and counting.
It's ridiculous, and stupid. Yes, your LGBT+kitchensink identity is stupid. It's very stupid to go around parading your sexual behaviors like anyone else should care. Keep it to yourself like a civilized person
It's LGBTQIA. Lesbian. Gay. Bisexual. Transgender. *****. Intersex. Asexual. But no one's going to crucify you if you don't remember it. Also, ***** is an umbrella term in itself that can encompass any and all of them. Some people don't like labels; some do. If you're one who doesn't...how is it bothering you that others do? I don't see how. Personally, I find it fascinating how many ways a person can be.
Also, it's aromantic. I'm not sure what aromamantic is, if that's even a word. People who are romantically attracted to fragrances?
When you say it's about sexual behavior...you do realize that being transgender doesn't have anything to do with having sex, right? And honestly, the only identity of them all that has anything to do with sexual behavior is the A, which implies that there's...no sex going on.
Basically lets just find some justification for the hatred everyone feels for anyone who is different. Thats all this nonsense really is.
And what are you folks going to do when this gets REALLY complicated? Because technology has several things coming up that will just make this seem like the easy mode of this conversation.

Even intersex people are genetically male or female though. That's just a birth defect.
You're claiming that a full complement of normal female sex organs vanish and are magically replaced with a full complement of normal male ones? False.
I don't know where you came up with this, but its not true.
The now-defunct Intersex Society of North America stated that: If you ask experts at medical centers how often a child is born so noticeably atypical in terms of genitalia that a specialist in sex differentiation is called in, the number comes out to about 1 in 1500 to 1 in 2000 births[0.07-0.05%].
Blackless, Fausto-Sterling et al., said in two articles in 2000 that 1.7 percent of human births might be intersex,
Very very very rare.
Why are people acting like it occurs in 95% of the population?
Rarity is a matter of perspective, I guess. I have albinism, and the rate of those with albinism is between 1 in 170,000 and 1 in 200,000. 1 in 2000 seems pretty common by comparison.
Excuse me, but that is an asinine thing for you to say. You are confusing Constitutional conservatives, with religious conservatives, they are not one in the same.
If you are a man or a woman, it's no one's business who you prefer to have intimate sexual relations with. It was not conservatives who were opposed to the gay life style choices, it was the bible thumpers.
Well, the pride parades and gay promotional agenda made it everyone's business who has sex with whom. They MADE it an issue.
Nobody cared before. Closed doors and all. No. One. Cared.
The LGBT movement TOLD people all about how they have sex. THEY brought it up. How do people not see that?
Don't want people to talk about it? They stop talking by example.
