Trump was a coward and didn't even bother with his usual lies to the press.

Pathetic!
Trump is trying to negotiate. It's the Democrats who say, "5 billion is a non-starter". So Trump said he'd go 2.5 billion and the Dems still said no. The Dems want to use this as a political football to shame Trump into admitting defeat. That's all they care about.

Nope, I heard it right out of the dummy's mouth, 5+ billion or no deal.

Then I would have replied - the majority of illegal aliens overstay their visas and the majority of illegal drugs come in at ports of entry, so Trump, you don't have a leg to stand on to obtain $5 billion for an unnecessary wall. It is a waste of money. Security can be tightened at the border without $5 billions for a wall.

And, Trump, if you use a national emergency have the military build a wall at a cost of $20 billion, we will see you in court so fast it will make your head spin. Also no 'Winter WH' this year at Fla golf resort--enjoy DC and your government shutdown!

This is how Trump Should Have Answered the Press About The Shutdown, "Mexico is going to pay for the wall."

wow, check that out ... It can be done, the fact is they won't go forward and are stonewalling the whole process with the shutdown and funding. The power is in the Congressional house, not the White House.

Wow, like, I think we all know what "can" be done. Going into law without the President's signature is not the same thing as a veto. The President's signature merely accelerates making it official. Anything passed by Congress becomes law unless the President issues a veto.

Not what I heard.

Trump makes $1.5B request for border wall

President Trump will ask Congress for $1.5 billion this year to begin work on the wall he promised to build at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The money is part of a $30 billion supplemental spending request that’s being sent to lawmakers on Thursday, according to White House budget director Mick Mulvaney.

5 billion is not much.
Build it.
2/3 of the border that run through Texas is on privately owned lands. Do you support the federal government seizing those privately owned lands to build a wall not even the majority of Texans want?

Wrong. Trump has demanded $5 billion, no less. Pence offered $2.5 billion and Trump found out and said Pence had no right to negotiate, the price is $5 billion no less. Dems have tried numerous time to negotiate but as said before, Trump changes his mind more times than a baby changes a diaper. You can't negotiate with someone like that.
