That is correct the democrats supported the Fence Act and funded it. Since then, the fence has been built wherever it was logistically possible and feasible.

Not if he gets enough heat, and McConnell is on thin ice as it is. At some point, the Republicans will have to get the government reopened. When Trump absolved Schumer and Pelosi of all responsibility for the shutdown ON CAMERA, he put McConnell in a bad spot.

I keep telling folks that Trump talks too damn much for his own good. That was a major blunder on his part.

Nope. The people who you claim are being harmed, are not the ones involved in making the decision. Hence it's not extortion and you could not make that claim in any court in the USA.

Furthermore, the standard you do put forth, if it was legally possible, would place the Congress in just as much legal jeopardy as Trump. Easy enough to argue those people are being harmed by the actions of Congress. We do know that the reason you pin it solely on Trump however is simple politics.

Glad to clear this up for you.

Again, Trump took responsibility for the shutdown on camera in front of millions of Americans. You can’t turn around now and claim this to be a Democrat development.

Furthermore, he’s on record and again on camera saying that Mexico will pay for it. There’s no getting around that.

Trump should simply humble himself and tell the American people that his promise was a canard and a load of meaningless bluster, and that he needs their tax money to build the wall. There’s no other way. He already let Schumer and Pelosi off the hook during that White House meeting when he was yapping ad infinitum instead of listening....as usual.

So if someone threatens to harm a member of their family, according to you, that is not extortion? I don't know about the GOP but Democrats actually care about their constituents.

Don't you think that giving 5 billion for a half-baked idea without a plan, is a bit irresponsible?
The Donald did say he loves the poorly educated. Those screeching for "the wall" are example one of those poorly educated. Sadly they are more in love with their own ignorance and self satisfaction with simplistic jingoistic solutions than actually trying to educate themselves about the complexities of border security and immigration and asylum policies and trying to find reasonable and functioning solutions to the problems.

Really? Non-essential? I guess people who depend on food stamps or their IRS refunds should just suck it up, huh? I can tell you who is non-essential. Trump. The man is a dolt, but fortunately up until now the government has been able to function in spite of him.

How do you compromise with a big baby that says I want a wall or I keep the government closed? He doesn't care about anything or anyone but himself and money and power.

He should open the government back up, allow the Democrats little fit to simmer down and come 2020, those who wanted the wall will back that up with their vote. My guess is the Dems won't get in, because a large percentage of people who actually vote want it and so do a few who won't admit it publically.

I don't agree with holding the American people hostage as a means to a compromise. We need our paychecks and our tax returns.

The wall would be many billions more than the $5.6 billion that Trump wants. Besides, it's impractical. Please educate yourself.
