When push comes to shove they know to put politics aside for the moment.
The American public...not so much.
That's exactly what I thought the day that I was listening to President Trump's public address a few days ago. When President Trump was discussing how he was working with Gavin Newsome (State of Ca), I was happy that they were working on solutions, and immediately though of the anti-Trump / Republican nutjobs on this site.
He didn't shut down flights from China, he put a travel ban on all foreigners coming to the U.S. from China. Americans in China were free to come and go without interruption. How much good did that do?
It is a little better than the rest of the EU countries, lol
One country doesn't even allow their own citizens to come back, i forgot which country it is. Sounds harsh? well, you have to do what you have to do sometimes. it is getting so bad.

Can't prove a negative but I'd say it did a hell of a lot of good. We could be like Italy and Iraq right now.
WHO just declared it a Pandemic just in the last 7 days IIRC.
They were the last to call it what it was.
Yep, the WHO slept the longest. The spokesman, forgot his name, always sounded like he wanted to avoid calling it a pandemic at any cost for whatever reason.

Why? Because Americans in China were somehow immune from the virus? Did the virus know it couldn't infect Americans because Trump was letting them come and go freely?
Try using some common sense. The virus didn't care if you were American and allowed to travel here or you were Chinese and were not. It is an equal opportunity virus. You are incredibly naive if you think some Americans coming back from China weren't carrying the virus with them.
Odd analogy. Y2K was just a technical issue, not a deadly disease.
It was an example of proactive, preventative measures that worked.
But because the world didn't fall apart it was called a "bust".
It's called an analogy.
We are a reactive people. We act after the *** happens.
That's the nature of human beings.

She was talking about the international effort to make sure it was not a problem. It could have disrupted all the banking systems, among others. Think what that might have done.

Many, many people had no idea that programmers were doing overtime, weekends, etc. for most, if not all, of 1999.
It wasn't newsworthy. Every time I hear about that Y2K "bust" I grit my teeth.
