You're here arguing they shouldn't be arrested because we dont know they committed murder-the person could be fine. And you're calling everyone lying and deceitful who claim otherwise. Theoretically thats possible, but the rest of us live in reality.

Lets talk about something rational. More math and probability for you. Want to see whats going to happen? Look at Austrailias numbers. a handful of cases a day right? Now understand that for them the coldest months saw cases go from 15->410 per day in less then 8 weeks. a 27X increase. Then back down. In the July timeframe. Were about to see that same sort of thing. The warm weather is over for us and its getting cold. If we see ours act like theirs did when it was cold we are truly truly needing Trump to do something extreme now. But of course that wont happen.

On the plus side this coming failure should seal his fate as far as running in 2024. If we see similar numbers the math says that when Biden takes office we will be seeing millions PER DAY. Because people are dumb. Because of Trump we arent starting off at the 100 or less cases a day like China and Austrailia. We are starting at 100K infections a DAY. We have a vaccine being produced......And instead of doing his job Trumps spending his time golfing and whining about losing. We wont have significant vaccines for months.

A lot of dead people before biden takes office. And by the time he gets it, the idea that e can stop this? We will have missed that chance. Trump is a utter failure thats going to kill a ton of American citizens. And folks here still dont get it.
Words words words. Your opinion is not the constitution, thank God.

POTUS does not have the authority to “ lockdown” the country.

Governors and local governments impose restrictions, or not.

It’s all about attempting to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed.

Back in March, the WH issued guidelines to reduce the spread. #1 was to listen to and follow directions of local authorities. It was the Federal guidelines regarding distancing that compelled most states to issue restrictions.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/...s-slow-spread/

Nearly every state has some regional restrictions in place, right now.
That was the purpose for the original lockdown. Hospitals have had ample opportunity to prepare, so that they don't get overwhelmed.

If strict lockdowns work, why do the states with the most draconian mandates have more cases?

And unconstitutional.

As a citizen of the United States, it's absolutely appalling that I am prohibited from entering a state in our country, when I am not proven to be covid positive, because of a mandate by that state's governor.

Then why is such a crackpot even on the task force?

We should have had a better handle on this pandemic. It is sad that wearing a mask helps to keep transmissions down, but a good percentage of the population refuses to wear a mask, citing civil liberties.

A reminder: when hospitals run out of beds, those that suffer heart attacks, strokes, or even a broken limb, are out of luck.

I predict that Governor Abbott will re institute a partial shutdown the week after Thanksgiving.
OMG - 15,000 people in a country of 328 million.

I'd also like to dial down into that "with covid" stat. Are they hospitalized with covid or because of covid.

The media is also reporting that hospitalizations are up from September, but the true stat would be if they were up from a year ago. Do hospitalizations generally go up in the fall?

I live in Texas, and I have been tracking the stats on our county. Every day I check, and in the past 2 months, there have never been more than 5 people that have died of covid, most are over 80, and in EVERY case, there were underlying conditions. Yes, every death is sad, but what we are doing to society is criminal.

Yesterday, a high school student committed suicide from a school less than a mile from my house. We are destroying kids educations, and in many case lives, because of this shutdown.

People on food stamps only get so much at a time and it often doesn't last very long. It definitely wouldn't buy six weeks worth of food.

Plus, people like me who live in a room wouldn't be able to take out the trash and do laundry. Would get very smelly quickly.
These are all good points. (Sorry, couldn't rep you again.)

I, like many people, have been following these COVID threads for months now, and I think I am seeing a shift in that more and more people are saying, "ENOUGH already!" and I am also seeing some references in the news to the fact that people are getting worn out from "pandemic fatigue" or "coronavirus burnout" -- to which most medical/science people reply, "Just learn to deal with it" and which is not very helpful. People want to live like they did a year ago, and I think the article below (for example) is just stupid when the author compares the new restrictions to wearing a bicycle helmet and simply advises telling oneself that the restrictions are for your own good. This is because the "rules" have gone way beyond washing your hands more often because not being able to socialize or have traditional holiday gatherings or wearing a mask whenever you go to an indoor public place is a MAJOR change in how one interacts with others; it is not just an inconvenience. Also, the situation with COVID is not even like the old pandemics, such as polio, when the outbreaks or dangerous seasons were only for a few months, at most. (The notable exception being the 1918 flu pandemic, which lasted for more than an entire year in the U.S.)

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/heal...ndemic-fatigue

I wonder how long it is going to be until the majority of people say that they are no longer going to do without normal socializing and actually live their lives as they did a year ago? (I know that some people have always done this and that more people are doing this now than eight months ago, but I wonder how long it will until the people in the U.S. in general are going to rebel against the restrictions?)

I would love to see a poll on on how many people are going to willingly and voluntarily spend the holidays very differently this year than last year, how many will unwillingly spend them in a different way, and how many will say that they are spending them the same as usual, state restrictions or not.
