Like every other 'plague' that has run its course in the world. You get it and become immune ... or die. Either way the virus eventually runs out of hosts. The only other choice is you hide in your 'castle' until it goes away and hope it doesn't come back.
And just as a recap. A virus does not care what you believe when it comes to religion or politics. It does not care where you live or what kind of work you do. Right now, over 97% of the people getting COVID are not vaccinated. So, good luck.

The current world population is about 8 billion. 15% of 8 billion is 1.2 billion. It may be cruel, but some days I think 1.2 billion fewer people in the world just might be a good thing. The USA share of that would be about 50 million. Again with no vaccine.

We could not handle those numbers and people would be left to die on their own all over the country. Then there are the long Covid and chronic medical problems produced that would weigh down our HC systems for decades.

You left out the long term chronic illness or medical problems caused by the vaccines....especially heart related issues. A friend recently developed AFIB after being vaccinated and had no prior underlying health issues.
The public will remain skeptical of the vaccines as long as the medical community remains silent and in denial about serious side affects while doctors who are speaking out and voicing their concerns are being labeled as quacks and shunned into silence. In time the real truth will be known.

Dying from covid is one thing; living with it is another. I'm female, in my 40s and living a healthy lifestyle. Influenza is a three day affair for me even as people tell me I can't have had the 'real' flu because

The side effect is important because the Covid "No big deal" crowd only counts direct deaths.

If the virus does turn out to be from a lab, then a few hundred million deaths would be a small price to pay for awakening humanity to the stupidity of research where the potential for good, is always outweighed by the potential for harm.

Those long term post-vaccine numbers are and will remain much much smaller than those due to the Covid disease.
Skeptical is good, but that has to be balanced with specific knowledge and experience. One has to be able see and then weigh the relative possibilities in real time and real life.

Shut it down - humanity has survived without it, but might not survive having it.
Shut it own here, and then fall behind with the technology? I doubt that will happen.
And then quite possibly civilisation will collapse from a true engineered super virus - ain't it great being so intelligent?
I don't care about the virus, or the vaccine - best to do nothing, and hopefully learn from the experience.
