If 54% of 16 to 74 year olds can't read at a 6th grade level, we can't be surprised when those people are less likely to obtain careers.

Yes there is. High school performance.

Grade inflation. Easier classes, easier schools. The SAT is a great comparison tool.

The SAT has data on literally millions of students over decades.

The only reason to deny this is to push equity policies or because of hurt feelings. Or to eliminate testing so your high school doesn't look like garbage objectively. Meanwhile standardized test just showed most adults can't read well, quick kill the test to solve the problem!

Sort of like killing covid tests so there are no more cases.
