P.S. Btw, to my knowledge, this is the first documented use (and it's on civilians):

"At least five Uragan cluster munition rockets containing submunitions struck central Donetsk in early October 2014, based on evidence Human Rights Watch gathered. The evidence overwhelmingly indicates that these rockets were fired from government-held areas near the village of Novomykhailivka, southwest of Donetsk."

Who said that?

"Good guys?"

Where did anyone ever get the idea that the Urkainians, or the Americans either for that matter, are supposed to be the "good guys?

There are several who gleefully and continually post that the Ukrainian government is corrupt too, that the U.S. isn't a peace loving nation ether, ... on and on about how the west is no better than Russia.

So?

When the feathers have settled from Russia's invasion of Ukraine, it won't depend on who are the "good guys."

It will depend on who throws in the towel. One side will need to give up. Makes no difference if you're a bad guy or a good one, at some point the realization sets in that the game is over, here aren't too many moves left and none of them are winners.

Hard to know what to believe these days.

Is the Russian military a disgruntled bunch, griping about poor pay and lack of ammunition, with constant turnover in the senior leadership, making one ill-fated move after another?

Or, even with all this, are they a mean fighting machine that will eventually fight Ukrainian military to a standstill?

If you want an alternate take on what the American press feeds us every day about the war in Ukraine, listen/read to Glenn Greenwald.

Yes, some concession of territory may be necessary to end the war, but Ukraine will require security guarantees as well. What before was impossible, Ukraine joining NATO, may now be required to prevent Putin from repeating the war 5-10 years from now. Neither side will be happy with that outcome, but that's how compromises are made.

The millions of land mines makes progress very slow for Ukraine.

Ukraine may feel the same way I do about my personal security - it is up to me, and not much help can be expected.
After all the F-16s and sophisticated tanks and air defense devices are delivered Ukraine may feel it is their responsibility to maintain them and just assume Russia will be back at some point. There may even exist a permanent sort of low-level warfare in Ukraine the way there is in Israel.

This is going to be expensive. Ukraine will have to make a great many internal changes if they are to thrive in the post war world. They will need to become productive far beyond what they reported in previous times.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the ONLY good guys in this whole story were the people of Donbass, sticking to their own beliefs, attacked by the puppet Ukrainian government and foreign forces that backed it, and betrayed by Putin.

A Ukrainian official suggested to the WaPo that they're not tracking where cluster munitions are used.

It's okay, the civilians that live there are mostly ethnic Russians, and Ukraine are the good guys.
