I am not a fan of leftwing politics. I believe in limited government and American freedoms. However there is a chorus on here from MAGA's and others outside of CD that the left is so dangerous we will end up destroyed or a banana republic or full blown socialist if the left has their way.
However the left is in power in Europe. Scandinavia is very left wing. Canada is also. Yet they are not destroyed. I don't want us to be like them. With socialized health care, high taxes and less freedoms. But if the left did win here we would be more likely like Scandinavia not Venezuela. Norway or Canada has not dismantled capitalism and implemented Socialism. Why would it be any different here?

The Left Wing of the USA is more like the Venezuelan Socialists than Canada or Europe Leftists....I think we would look just like Venezuela or Cuba if the Leftists gained full control here.

The far left yes. Not all democrats. Most of the stuff passed by them since Biden got in is typical left wing stuff you would see Canada or Europe do. I don't like any of it but a far cry from Cuba.

One major difference is that the left in other countries don’t hate the country they live in. The left in America openly state their disdain for America.
Other than that, you answered you own question when you said that there would be “higher taxes and less freedoms”. People don’t realize that Americans have quite a bit more freedoms than those living in the UK and Europe especially with freedom of speech and guns. Our government also works for us but it is not viewed that way in other countries. The left in America really doesn’t understand the left in other countries.

The Left wants to reduce America from what it has been for the last 50 years, down to the level of Canada and Europe - big-govt oligarchies with the central govts running much more, and screwing much of it up.

That is probably correct. But some on here say the left wants to turn us into Cuba. The majority of wealthy people in the US are Democrats. They have a higher comfort level with taxes than Republicans but they don't all their money confiscated by the government. And they are the big democrat donors so what they want counts.
