I read about half of the thread and I won't even try to address the tax write off thing but you must live in NC or SC like I do since we have tax free weekend, I will address that. Being upset over that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's not only paper, pencils, etc. that are tax free. Clothes, computers, electronics that could be used for college dorm rooms (ie tv's), clothes, and basically anything that someone can come up with a reason for saying it's needed for school will be tax free. That doesn't only benefit families with kids. ANYONE can take advantage of it. I don't plan to b/c I don't want to deal with the crowds but I'm evil since I have a kid anyway so that doesn't matter, right? Put your anger where it needs to go. All the people having babies with no help and living off welfare. They use your tax money. Not the rest of us. Other than school, you don't pay a dime for my kid. If I get a tax break for him you'll get over it. I was single once too and I just paid my taxes and went on my merry way. It's not changing....get over it.

it wasn't rude. like I said, I will cash the checks, but I won't rely on them. that's what worthless people will do. I invest my own money so I won't have to rely on the government to be my mommy and daddy.

oh, I got a pretty good feeling it is changing, you just don't want to face the facts. you won't address the tax write off, because you can't defend it. yes, I pay for your kids school. I also pay for a lot of kids health care, and food, and shelter. I am not angry, but obviously you are for someone standing up and calling parents out.

As a retiree, I don't mind paying to educate another American's children because some retiree paid to educate my child. However, I do mind educating the children of illegals. If you are not already here, come to Texas where we coddle illegals whereby they return the favor by stealing our SS and our school taxes.

How big of a teat must someone suck on to be able to afford to do that?

These are the questions this thread brings to mind.

you are not just paying for illegals kids to go to school. you need no identification to receive WIC either.

Default Voting for a paycheck is easier than working.

I don't expect things to change. Texas is known as a conservative (red) State but only when compared to many other States. This new crop of Republicans are as bad as the Democrats when it comes to spending, especially in Texas. I offer GWB as an example.

Whether or not the supposed quote from the 1800th century Scottish historian, Alexander Tyler, actually occurred or not, it seems logical to assume a society will begin to vote themselves a paycheck from the treasury as soon as they find out they can. Its similar to expecting drivers to drive defensively after they learn everyone else is driving offensively. The results of both scenarios are bad but illegals who come to the formerly conservative U.S. from socialistic economies are like ravenous wolves among wide-eyed sheep. They not only know the socialistic system but work to install their own within the management structures of those systems. It works sort of like a person who is disgruntled with their own State and who move to another State hoping for change. As soon as they arrive in their new home they begin rebuilding their new home to resemble their old one.

I know, it's happening where I live. all these liberals from NYC are moving here and ruining the state. as for the illegals, we need to do another operation wet back. that got rid of about 4,000,000 last time.
