I thought we lived in a country where "church" and "state" are suppose to be "separate." One group isn't suppose to "rule all" and inflict their religious beliefs on the entire country.
I don't define morality by religion. To me, morality is all about whether people are honest and upfront, and tell the truth. How do you define morality? Thanks, Claire

Every time I see this brought up, I can't help but cringe. Ironic also the word, "suppose" almost universally seems to be utilized when this is brought up. Maybe ideally to some they should be separate. But in reality what are we basing this belief of separation of church and state? It sure isn't coming from the U.S Constitution.

Rather it comes from Thomas Jefferson, I believe... there's also the thing about the state not establishing a religion that is in the Constitution. Not saying we should get all of our political ideas from some elite slave owning planter from the 1700's, but he was a pretty smart guy, probably.
Some religious people seem to think that it's ok to force their views and their "will" on everyone in the country. I don't understand this type of thinking at all.
Why do some people need to turn everyone into a "clone" of "who they are?"
Why do some people want to enact laws that force everyone to go along with what "they want?"
I worry about the direction our country has been taking lately. I want "church" and "state" to be "separate." This way, no one group will take complete control and force their "will" on everyone.

Not establishing a religion does not mean the government cannot support religion...
