It is just simply horrific that there is still a high amount of racial tensions in our southern states.

Remember that South Carolina is a state the WORSHIPS Strom Thurmond, not much you can expect from them, I suppose.

I know one who is as intelligent as you, is aware that "Thurmond supported extending the Voting Rights Act, making the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. a federal holiday.[2] He appointed African-American Thomas Moss to his staff in 1971, described as the first appointment by a member of the South Carolinian congressional delegation".

Strom Thurmond - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Better than worshipping Jesse Jackson, Charlie Rangel and Sharpton.

Thurmond moved whichever way the wind blew. He created the Dixiecrat party when he thought the mood of the country was such that segregation was a foremost ideal of the majority.

After the Civil Rights Act was passed under LBJ he switched from the Democrats to the republican party. He tossed a few reconciliatory bones to the black voters and hoped that some of his actions would entice Dem voters to his side of the aisle.

The whole time, Thurmond carried on affairs with black women, and left a half-black love child as a result. She has written a book about her life in the shadows.

Don't ever try to fool anyone that Thurmond repented of his prejudices. He carried them to his grave, and we can only hope that all who share his views will follow in short order.

Are you saying he hated blacks so much that he had to vae sex with them? Have affairs with black women tells me he was for them, not against them.

I noticed you failed to say anything about him being one of the first to hire a black in congress.
