People have different methods. I'm in my late 30s and have a pretty limited dating history. I wouldn't describe myself as ugly, and I doubt that you are either, but admittedly few women have been instantly attracted to me.
My solution before was just to be patient and find someone with whom I can spend a lot of time, and hope she eventually became attracted to me. Varying degrees of success.
However, after a recent painful breakup, my solution is to forget about dating for a long time (maybe ever) and get myself in a position where I really don't need anyone else. I mean, filling up every spare hour whether it's work, hanging out with friends, exercise, volunteering, etc. Maybe that won't leave time for a relationship, but since I don't expect to find one, that's OK. Then if it does happen, I'm not going to invest myself to the point where I'll be where I am now if it ends. So I won't drop other activities as I have done in the past when in a relationship.
Believe me, if you have a good job and are a solid person, there are people out there for you. And man. 26! You've got years and years before you should be thinking about giving up.
