2) What your husband does is not work. Work is physical. He probably exercises his mind, but your husband applies himself to a PROFESSION, not "work". I actually "work" for a living. Mental activities are far too easy for me.
Paper pushers are people too!

I'm not saying they're not. I'm not even saying that they do not apply themselves at what they do, or excel at it. I'm just saying that it isn't technically "work" because it is not physical labor. Work if the application of force over distance.

Im not sure Im understanding why physical work is supposed to be more valuable than mental work?...one works the brain, the other works the body...whats the big deal?

The definition of work includes mental work. Pick another term...how about physical-labor?

But mental "work" isn't actual work. How about, as I said, the person using his mind over his muscles is "applying himself to a profession"?

How about you look up the word 'work' in the dictionary? It is what it is.

Given the day I'm having, only a person that does not toil with mental work wouldn't consider it work. Our nightly cleaning crew was hanging out in the 2nd floor break area tonight having some laughs. I was envious of them. If I could have their job for the same pay, I'd take it in a heart beat on some days.

Ok, lets here the argument that there isn't any action/movement in the brain/nervouse system to and fro in mental work. This should be good.

eta: Even beyond pure mental work action is always present when working. So, the argument is now degree of action?
