How about prior to the supposed lifetime of Jesus?

In a nutshell, the purpose of Christianity is to give all humans eternal life.

Isn't that what Jesus said?

"Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness." The timing of Jesus's redemptive work doesn't matter. What matters is whether you believe God.

If you're saying that God needed to sacrifice himself to appease his own wrath, well, that's even creepier and even more bizarre.

For the life of me, I can't understand why people still believe such inanity.

Superstition, ignorance, and fear. The same things that make adults throw their own children into volcanoes.

Sadly, people who are not simple-minded cannot believe something as patently ridiculous as a super being pretending to kill part of himself in order to "save" those whom he afflicted in the first place.

It's an English translation of what somebody said Jesus said, at any rate.

Ridiculous. I often see adults give their life to Christ and experience forgiveness, peace and reconciliation. No children are harmed. As a matter of fact, they get a better mom or dad in return.

People around the world are converting to religions you would consider to be false: Islam, Mormonism, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Scientology, and so forth. And yet you do not see those conversions as evidence for the validity of those religions. Why not?
