This branch of the thread started with the accusation that Christianity was just a white man's religion that was trying to wipe out other cultures and peoples. I made the point that our nation was founded with the idea that Christianity is allowed, and we have a right to free expression of it. That does mean that if a state wants to allow it, sometimes Christianity may have a louder voice than others.

On the other hand, if a large population of Muslims were living in an area, such as Dearborn, MI...the state of Michigan can allow those Muslims to practice their religion as they want, and I have no right to tell Michigan how to legislate.
How do you do it?...Peddle that bike backwards?...

What do you believe is the purpose of Christianity?

To start arguments.

I don't think it's far-fetched to believe that Jesus was telling Peter, "Upon you I will build my 'following(ers)' ". Jesus was looking for people to follow his teachings. Has nothing to do with building a church per se. Paul is the one who got all gung ho about establishing churches.

The purpose of Christianity is to share the redemption of mankind, toward God, through the redemptive work of Christ.

So, God sent himself (or his son) to sacrifice himself to himself as a loophole for the rules he made? Makes sense.

You're close. God sent His son to shed His own blood to pay for sin, by which mankind can be redeemed. Payment for sin satifies God's holiness and exhibits His grace and mercy.
