The really big news is Medicare Part D is providing shingles shots at no cost. I paid $200 for each of my two shots last year. Sigh. Left behind the door again.

(I put that in quotes because nothing is ever really free)

Medicare is covering it.
For others who don't have insurance and/or insurance won't cover it the HHS is creating a program to pay for it this year and up to December of 2024.
And that is good because Pfizer had a 400% increase to covid vaccine in Nov 2022 to $130 per shot.

I've heard the roll out is delayed until October, but we'll just have to wait and see.

And the demand for the vaccine is down 85% so they are now considering price cuts. Paxlovid is down 98%. Could be the season, could be the price, could be vaccine hesitancy. But probably all 3.

Getting Medicare to pay will lock in nice profits and a continued market for the vaccine. Plus they will now combine it into the flu vaccine.

Combining the COVID-19 vaccine with the annual influenza vaccine is good news. I'm planning on getting the COVID-19 vaccine, influenza vaccine, and RSV vaccine this fall. Bringing this down to 2 injections would allow me to accomplish this in one day.

From Salon.com - Long Covid could lead to a "mass-disabling event", namely an increase in Parkinson's and other neuro-degenerative diseases.

I hope that we still get a choice for flu shots without the mRNA of covid boosters. I do not want a cocktail mix.

Of course you will. "They" are always going to give people a choice and some people can't take one or the other so would not be wise to make a cocktail the only choice.

However, I also read that getting multiple shots in the same arm (not necessarily at the same time) boosts your immunity.
