Thanks, Rotse and Branh. I have indeed tried to venture out and hang out with people who I normally would avoid. When you move to a new city, you have to really go outside your comfort zone sometimes.

I'll tell you one thing, as much as I sometimes want to leave Seattle, I don't really want to move all over again (plus, I signed a year contract with this job). Moving is expensive and stressful, and I can't just pick up and leave to a new city whenever I please. But the only way I will ever move to another city is if I have at least five solid, reliable connections there beforehand and if I visit several times before. My biggest mistake was just moving blindly to a new city without having a network or knowing anyone. I'm not doing that again.

I detect sarcasm here don't I?

I'm moving to New Jersey on Friday. Yes, I plan to let the door hit me on the way out, just for the hell of it in case anybody was wondering. (Where's my cookie!)

Default What I don't like about Seattle

In general:
-Too many people.
-A lot of people are not sociable. Either they have no interest in social interaction with people they don't know or they're very quiet or shy.
-There's a major league soccer team.
-The Tractor hosts a lot of the bands I like but I don't like it or going to and from it.
-No public marina on Lk Union, and the public marinas on Lk WA aren't suitable for overnight guest moorage.

Downtown:
-Clipboardhandlers.
-A shortage of curbside parking, partly because of the absurd handicapped placard parking policy and the continued loss of spaces because of bike paths and streetcars.
-Street thugs.
-Cars running red lights.
-Graffiti
-Gas leaf blowers.

In other words, not much of major importance.

Good luck there. Be sure to play Mega Millions and Powerball - NJ has the highest play rate and lots of winners. It's a shame many transplants leave Seattle disappointed. When I lived in Northgate some young ladies from Chicago always talked about how much Seattle sucked. Now that I been away for some time, I realize the major problem with Seattle is its dead sense of humor. Being in the midwest has reminded me that happy humans laugh. I thought a conservative place like IN would be no fun but I was wrong. Life is starting to become fun(ny) again. And the people of color here (Indianapolis), especially the ladies, are so nice and friendly to me. Seattle haters made me forget that I'm very handsome. Moving on.

The anti-social atmosphere of the city and traffic.

They'd probably shrug off a real tragedy like that with their typical passive indifference.... but if a God-fearing Republican got himself elected mayor, the reaction to that I gotta see. Wouldn't a "politician foreign exchange program" with exotic places like Texas or Utah be fun? That might be reality television I'd actually watch.

What the devil? "In Seattle I was perceived as an iphone thief rapist criminal too often."

So where is the lucky happier city?

I'm thinking City-Data needs to start an emigrant's area for people looking for countries less dysfunctional as well.

What I dislike is the high crime rate, I mean property crime especially. Too many car prowls, thefts and robberies. Eastside is much better however i live in Seattle.
