It is easy to survive outside in Atlanta, I used to live there. I survived fine spending hours outside every single day. Not everyone dies when the temperature is under 80 F like you do.

You act like 40-50 F temperatures are hard to survive. Seriously?

You can easily get heat exhaustion outside in Atlanta in summer if you exert yourself too much. I've seen it with my own eyes and nearly experienced it, in what way is that speculation?

Conversely, I've played baseball and football outside for hours in 40-50 F weather and I was just fine. Again, in what way is that speculation if I experienced it?

Yeah, it's easy in the summer. Try in the winter for just 2 days and get back to me. Until you do, I'll take the article and my own common sense.

Maybe you are right, but the warm (>57 °F/13.9 °C) periods don't seem to last very long. They last much longer in Melbourne. Maybe it's just a psychological factor, because the city is located at 33 °N, so I expected it to be much warmer, but I'm still not convinced. Winters in Birmingham (UK) look much milder to me, I don't know why.

Lol, common sense that somehow 50 F is more dangerous than 90 F, even though it's a lot easier to be comfortable at 50 F? Right. You either have circulation problems or health problems. Seriously, you wear sweaters at 80 F. No wonder you find Atlanta so inhospitable. You must think Chicago is downright polar.

Anyone who thinks 80 F is cold is not to be take seriously.

I wonder if 50 is more dangerous though. Try spending 24hrs in that. 50f is 48 degrees below the natural human temps, so that would have a more negative affect than 90 for a longer period of time. 50 is certainly going to be considered more comfortable though. But 90 is a more suitable temp for human habitation.

50 F isn't dangerous. You could spend 24 hours outside even at 10 F and be safe, as long as you're dressed correctly. It's not rocket science.

This scenario would make sense if you spend 24 hours outside naked at 50 F. But after all, it isn't 30,000 BC. We have resources to keep warm.

Sure if by "dressed correctly" you mean you're wearing a house around you.

I see that among many things you haven't done, hiking in winter conditions is one of them.

You have no idea what I have done, so bringing that into discussion is stupid.

Anyways, you can dress for 10 F. Not everyone dies from 70 F weather like you do.
