No language is useful except English nowadays. As much as people hate to admit it languages such as French or Spanish have no use whatsoever, let alone other languages.
What? I'm not drunk. I don't drink. I'm just stating the truth, that in terms of a global language English is the only one. It doesn't mean that other languages are not useful. But people overestimate the importance of French, Spanish and German in the world. You really think that French or Spanish is useful outside their native language nations.

rubbish !
chinese and spanish are incredibly useful languages , french is relatively useless when you consider how popular it is in terms of learning a new language

I disagree, Chinese and Spaniards study English like crazy. I speak Spanish and every time i have a business meeting, they( the Spanish businessman) prefer to do the meeting in English. I would never spend years studying mandarim, because they have been studying English for years anyways. Yes, they would be impressed to the see a foreigner speaking mandarin, but the tendency is and has been for a long time to use English specially when doing business.

Not true
1) Spanish language speakers do NOT study English like crazy. The average Joe has a low command of it
2) As you said, CEO's speak English. But that is not exclusively because they are Spanish speakers but a global thing
3) They do NOT prefer speaking English when doing business, they do so because there's no other choice (because you know...English language speakers aren't usually good at speaking foreign languages)
4) About the Chinese being passionately about learning English, that is true.

99% of schools teach english

That's exactly what i said

I do and most people i know do too. I am speaking as someone who has over 12 years of experience in the field and whose first language is not English
True, but 99% of those schools only learn: Present simple, continuous, past simple, present perfect, Simple Future. That's all. It couldn't get any easier
The grammar books I know would classify that as super basic English
For the record, I'm talking about Latin America and Spain.

No, that's not what you said. You said "Spaniards study English like crazy" and that generalization is not true.

What are your talking about? Native speakers or non-natives? Most Americans I know can't even speak and/or write English well.
You may know the joke: "What do you call someone who can only speak one language? An American"
