Cuba is a shiithole. just like Haiti what’s the difference? it does not make any deference, that the royalty of the white race lives there. If they are so white and European (to like skinned Cubans white=royalty) how come cuba is such a dump. Instead of fighting, for change like castro did, is more convenient for them to just go to America.

Though most of the white population of Havana fled, the city still retains a very Spanish character.
The city of Havana was modeled by the Italian architects of Charles III, so it has a flair very resemblant to Madrid and Cadiz.
Other sections of the city are more American or have a French or Italian style, so you have gated communities frozen in times now inhabitted by squatters, plush neighbourhoods that now serve to lodge embassies, etc.
Havana resembles a real Spanish/French city whose white inhabitants deserted 50 years ago, something like Argel, Casablanca or Tetuan.
The city does not have anything to do with any "Latin" city, in fact, Cubans abhor Latins.
Havana is just one of those places lost in time.
Santiago de Cuba in the east has lots of French and Spanish influence.

Now, everybody is poor.

By the way, there are a lot of racism in Cuba, the blacks dream to get white partners and the whites usually rejects black partners. It is a well-known "secret" with terms like "atrasado" (=dark, mulato) or "adelantado" (="lighter"), which is also found in many countries. Those terms were "imported" from the "moros" during the Spanish-Moros "relations" = conflicts.
Cuba still always had a very large and significant black and mulatto populations. Many Africans immigrated to Cuba as well.

The most obvious African influences are limited to music, religion and genetics, although in all of them the African influence is highly fractured and heavily mixed with European and Taino influences, for the most part. This is true in Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Panama and even in the Caribbean region of Colombia. Even the Spanish dialect spoken in these countries have more Taino words than African ones, even though over 95% of the words are Spanish (hence, they speak Spanish instead of Puerto Rican or Cuban.)

But overall, the few "africanism" found in the Spanish Caribbean tends to be more than is found in African Americans and as such, Americans traveling to the Spanish Caribbean will often notice a stronger African influence, despite that influence being rather small.

To the dismay of many people, when all aspects of culture in the Spanish Caribbean are closely analyzed (language, architecture, food, music, art, etc), the most predominant component is neither the African or Taino influences, but rather the Spanish regardless if the person is white, mixed or black. This has also lead to a stronger sense of national identity, with many people from the Spanish Caribbean feeling uneasy whenever Americans want to break them down based on race or wants to impose a racial identity.

In other parts of the Caribbean, especially in the French and British (or formerly French and British) Caribbean, you will find a much stronger sense of "africaness" than in the Spanish Caribbean.

Also, by Spanish Caribbean, I also include some countries on the mainland such as Venezuela and Panama, plus the Caribbean region of Colombia. Combined with Cuba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico; these countries have much more in common among themselves than they do with the rest of the Latin America.
Cuba is actually the most African of any nation in the Caribbean. You should travel to Cuba and in addition do more research. Many Afro Cubans STILL divide up based on African tribes since African slaves and African immigrants were being brought to Cuba until extremely late and recently. Many still practice African religions as well and swear allegiance to African spirits, souls, and deities. Cuba and Brazil are perhaps the most absolutely African of any nations of the Western hemisphere since slaves were still being brought until the 1890s and many remained in contact with Africa and many Africans still immigrated to Africa.

In fact there is a documentary that just came out on Afro Cubans and their families in Perico, Cuba that found their long lost family and relatives that STILL live in Liberia and Sierra Leone and they just went to meet them in Africa.

And even in Puerto Rico, and Dominican Republic many African traditions remain strong.

In Panama, Colombia, and Ecuador many still have African surnames and can track what parts of Africa they came from and some still keep their connections with Africa culturally.

It also depends on the region.

If you want to further eradicate your statement... simple as this...........

When America was segretated and openly racist............... What teams were in the NEGRO LeAGUES?

Funny how history gets white-washed and people do follow some pretty ignorant opinions. But again, it's this simple.

New York Cubans (started in 1920s or 30s ) were in the Negro Leagues. and that placement was made by white people... A european-tied aristocracy....... I think that says everything at that needs to be said............. This was before Castro .........

Now that countries are becoming Powerful they want to white wash the minds and have people assimilate to white culture so it won't be dominated by the world it treated so injustly for ages & still does to many extent....> Cuba again being a good example of the truth
Fidel Castro is actually part black. His mother is half black.

Some white Cubans have returned. But in addition new white immigrants have always gone to Cuba. Cubans have always migrated to the USA. In the 1880s and 190s in places like Tampa, Florida, and Ybor City, Florida many black Cubans were cigar factory workers and many Spaniards, Italians, and white Cubans lived in these places as well. In NY in the 1920s and 1930s, Cubans were originally the largest Hispanoc group in NYC.

That's NOT true. Have you ever even been to Cuba? Cuba is the most African of any nation of the Caribbean. Cuba has maintained and retained more pure African traditions and Africanisms than any other nation in the Caribbean.

Afro Cubans also still divided themselves up based on African tribes. Many still even retain and maintain ties to the African continent and even have families there back and forth.
