Fyi Bali is not Jakarta. Get your facts straight. Also, Malaysia and SG is just near. You can actually be like Malaysia having millions of tourist but more than half of which are repeat SG visitors. I wonder why you cant do that?

LRT JKT passes the Rasuna Sahid, we can see being worked on and how LRT JKT will pass through the luxurious building some apertement , My imagine LRT passengers will see Jakarta with the beauty from inside train . which will definitely not pass through perumahan kumuh , Jakarta now provides mass transportation that is so comfortable for the people and of course Jakarta in the future will be a developed city ... we cannot compete or it will look like New York, Manhattan or London is too far a comparison . Jakarta will always imitate Singapore because the neighbor closest to Jakarta, that's why Jakarta will become a developed city

Nahh to MRT JKT will passes through the Elite Sudirman - Thamrin area, but unfortunately we cannot see the skyscrapers Jakarta , because in the area the train passes through the underground station, which is definitely all modern from purchasing tickets the community will use Vending Machine / TVM, will be available several shops, luxury restaurants , hangout place and preservation .. cooming soon
Your videos again show what's wrong with Jakarta. Your upscale "luxurious" areas aren't even built for pedestrians to enjoy. They're only built for people to look at through their car windows and the LRT window. Whats the point of a nice area if you cant even walk around and enjoy it? Or you have to be inside a mall to enjoy it.

Meanwhile, in Manila's nicest areas, you can easily walk around OUTSIDE and enjoy it

These are all different areas of Manila. Jakarta doesnt even have 1 area like this.

And about trains. Manila is finishing a new MRT line by next year. So before Jakarta even has 1 MRT line and 1 LRT line fully open, Manila will already have 2 LRT lines and 2 MRT lines open. And construction on 2 subway lines has just started and will be completed by 2025. 1 line services just Makati and the other lines services the other major CBDs of BGC and Ortigas and also extend to the airport and the far north of the metro

Yes keep rising! In the meantime accept the fact that you're still lacking and still below the ASEAN 5 tier cities.

Provided you have slightly more tourists(which are mostly Malaysians and Singaporeans) in Jakarta than Manila, is that even the best in Southeast Asia? And you have any other metrics that you do best and can be better?

Btw we got our independence in 1946 so you had been independent sooner than us.

This thread is Jakarta vs Manila. Not Indonesia vs the Philippines. If you want to talk about Indonesia vs the Philippines, start a new thread. Jakarta vs Manila makes sense because Jakarta & Metro Manila have close to the same population and same land area. So it's logical to compare the two.

Jakarta has a lot of problems too...

Your country has landborder with Malaysia, Brunei and Papua New Guinea, very proximate to SG, Australia and Thailand and yet that's only what you can get? Wtf. Bali is interesting but Jakarta?? Really?

We still have higher HDI and GINI which are better indicators of countrys economic status.

Yeah we accept that HCM is nearer to Manilas wealth because they are already ahead of Jakarta. Trains, skyscrapers, skyline they are already trumping you.

Jakarta is the fastest sinking city in the world. Manila is sinking too near the coastal areas, but not nearly as much as Jakarta.

Also, even if we take out the sinking factor, take into account global warming and sea-level rise. Look at Jakarta vs Manila

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8aOFHcT238

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YhccbXRDok

Pause both videos at the same meter mark and you'll see that the situation is much worse in Jakarta. At 2 meters sea-level rise, almost none of Manila is underwater. Manila is on a higher elevation. 40% of Jakarta sits below sea-level. And those videos are just about sea-level rise, not factoring in cities sinking. Jakarta is screwed if they dont build that sea wall.

On the other hand, Manila Bay has a really small opening with an island in the middle.

(and btw, that's a shallow lake to the East of Manila, not another ocean)

So as you can see, it would be much easier and cheaper to build a seawall in Manila than in Jakarta. But right now, Manila doesnt need a seawall. Jakarta needs one right now.

even in Ho Chi Minh Ciity i cant find pagpag there, so ho chi minh and Jakarta ahead of Manila then?
Proximate in how many miles? Compared to you who shares land borders with several countries and yet disappointing numbers.

The people you probably saw eating pagpag are probably now richer than you. Who knows? Lol

We certainly don't care, no offense meant but they are landgrabbers and supporters of terrorism in the south. I mean instrument of landgrabbing, since UK is the mastermind.

As I have said only Singapore if given the chance has the balls to belittle our economic conditions if ever but even Lee Kwan Yew wouldn't dare do that. He has respect with the Phil's and we certainly respect that man.

I don't even think KL has an extensive area as vibrant as BGC nor as sophisticated as Makati. One thing for sure they don't have much slum areas, but they do have pockets of those too.
