No, that was not my response. In fact, I did not respond at all.

Well then, let's all just say that regardless of color at all, the trash is being bulldozed out of the triangle and has to find a new place to be inconsiderate to those who live in the new area. Good luck to the people who live in the new area.

I totally agree with you.

Please look at the following. Notice how you quote the previous posters comment, and then type your own response. This is what suggests your post was a response to the previous posters comment. If this was an error , and you were not responding to the post you quoted, then I apologize for the assumption

I have no idea what you're getting at. The point is Buckhead is transforming itself from party-central to Rodeo Drive South because of violent crime, not because of general partying.

All I was asking was for someone to point out where it was suggested that 100% of the people at clubs in Buckhead are black. Nobody said, suggested or implied such a thing.

Merin, I think you are mixing up JPD (who asked the question and you are having a conversation with now) and the new user DFJ (who posted the original comment you are quoting). These are two different users, I think this is where the confusion is coming from (and why JPD is saying he never said that, because he didn't, DFJ did).

Lets try and get back on topic now.

Not sure what the dispute is, but when I said that the people in question were black, I was referring to those who caused all the problems - shootings, stabbings, violence, etc. - that led to Buckhead's demise and the current "revitalization."

To say that all those who partied in Buckhead were black is an outright untruth. But the violence and hood-like scenarios are due to the presence of the black/hip-hop crowd. This is undisputed. If anyone can find any violent incident other than a drunk frat-boy tussle that didn't involve the black/hip-hop element, please illuminate.

Violence and nightlife have been intrinsically linked to black/hip-hop culture for many years. I do fear for and empathize with the area that will now receive this crowd. Unfortunately, Atlanta is so ridiculously politically correct that the city will do nothing to stop it. Apparently, the only way to tame this crowd is by bulldozing the destination.

Punish an entire city, the economy and nightlife culture because of one destructive element. The baby and the bathwatewr both flushed away.

Actually, i believe it would of been bulldozed regardless of the crowd. It's hard to pay for prime real estate by selling drinks.

Actually, that's probably the easiest way to pay for prime real estate when you consider the mark-up and quantity of sales.

EDIT: But it's worth noting that "paying for prime real estate" in this case means "paying rent". (I'm assuming most of the bars did not own their buildings, perhaps Im wrong about that.) If the owners decide to cash out and make quick money rather than taking in rent for the long term, there's no way for a tennant to fight that.

The fact is that those bars are often a losing proposition for the landlords. If you've noticed, the bars change faster (go in and out of business) than the trendy clothes their patrons wear. The new tenants will most likely sign 5 to 10 year leases with rental escalation and percentage rent clauses. They will be much more stable tenants than bars.

And we can only hope they'll attract a better class of customers!
