I've only had two speeding tickets. I have court tommorow for the 2nd ticket, 58 in a 45. The cop was very nice and told me what I needed to do so I didn't have to worry about a lawyer. I went to the driving class so I'm getting this one tossed. One of the guys in my driving class was caught speeding when he tried to race a cop in an unmarked BMW.
Three speeding tickets in the mid 80,s & one in 1997. The last ticket i got was 8-09 for tinted windows (fix it ticket). I dont exceed the speed limit cause its VERY expensive in ca.
I got a warning letter once that my license would be suspended if I got more tickets, since I had piled up a few within a short period of time, but I got past that and tickets became a more occasional thing, so my license was never suspended. I imagine that would be a real PITA.
I find it funny how different people react so differently to getting popped. Some people are terrified of the idea, and if heaven forbid they get a ticket, they're horrified and are extremely careful afterward. Most of my friends were decidedly to the other end of the spectrum -- they just got ticket after ticket, laughed them off, and kept speeding. I pretty much did the same, since I didn't want to look like a wimp.
I had two really close calls, but no speeding tickets. I was going ~140 in 100 (km/h) and the cops were parked on the other side of the highway and they did a three point turn and followed me but then I slowed down a bit and they passed me and went on... and a few days later I found myself going 110 in 80 with the police tailgating me (no lights/sirens) so I slowed down again without making it too obvious and when I got in the city they went into the right lane and into Tim Hortons.
Speed limits of 80 on the highway (that's 50mph) really sucks. If you drive 80, people consistently pass and on those highways there are no passing lanes (just one lane each way) so people go out on curves without even checking for oncoming traffic to pass you... I hate passing when I have to go on the opposing side of the road to do it, but everyone drives 100+ anyway with the exception of a few grandpa drivers so it's all good.
