I see what you mean, Mateo, there ARE too many men and not enough women.

And the men are shaved. And they're checking out each other.

i just dropped in to the california forum because we went on a road trip to orange county (among other places) last week and i wanted to mention the friendliness of the locals at corona del mar state beach. had a ton of fun there and met some very nice people.

i don't know that i have a favorite for beaches; i've lived in san diego and jacksonville, and i think i like both for different reasons. certainly, florida's waters are warmer, but cali's always struck me as cleaner. as far as memory serves, the sand gets hot on both coasts though.

I love the part of Florida we are in because it's basically Alabama and not only are the beaches absolutely breathtaking (we moved from North Carolina) but I love that I can still be in the South!!

I cannot speak for California beaches personally, but why would you want to go to a beach that you can't swim in....? Humidity does not bother me, I would like it 85+ all the time so I love Florida. Maybe I would like it, but I'm doubting I would like it as much as Florida. Everyone has different things they want, for me it's temperature, white sand, and to be able to still be in a sane part of the country.
Why can't you swim in it? When I am at the beach, I see many people out in the water swimming and surfing.

It used to be quite cold, Fleet, but I don't know how it is now - I guess it changes from El Nino to La Nina.

Some like it cold, some don't.

Florida because warmer Blue water, better sand, No Great Whites for me this is better the movie jaws scares me yea but Florida does have more shark attacks but the kind sharks that are not scary the biggest shark you will come across is about 12ft rare to come in contact with one that big here But shark attacks are rare anyway! I'm not into surfing so I prefer Florida's waves over California's But if you are into surfing Jacksonville has some great surfing! And you can drive on the beach here witch is great for partying! Plus we got the Golf to Witch is a calmer water perfect for swimming Both states have beautiful Beaches! But I say Florida has the best beaches Hands down!

OK, older thread but will throw in my 2 cents...

I vastly prefer central to northern California coast, because I like it big and wild! Swimming for hours on end or checking out the latest silicon creations is not my thing..

The gulf side of Florida is a steaming hot bath tub, I can not stand it.. Matter of fact the whole state of Florida is unbearable to me, except for tight against the Atlantic coast or the keys. I will admit swimming around Vero Beach is nice, and Tarpon fishing in the keys is a blast.. Other than that... Give me the big pounding surf of raw Northern California coastline any day of the week...

PS... You ain't felt cold water until you try to swim in Lake Superior...
