Good morning Cyn and all! I'm a little under the weather- guess it's that cold/bronchitis/sore throat and associated miseries that's been making its rounds in the community here- sort of resting as I can and it's put a damper on my usually verbose self, I guess. I promise I won't breathe in your direction or in anyone else's-

Just wanted to mention that I read your post about communication aids from yesterday just as I had to hang it up and go out, so wanted to respond to it today. You probably are aware of what's out there, but I asked my DH about these as he's had experience in helping his clients evaluate and get what they needed when he worked for the Paralyzed Veteran's Association. He says there are all kinds of aids and devices out there, they're tailored to the person's capabilities, depending on their abilities to use their limbs and other parts of their bodies. He mentioned that there are a lot of different devices out there- from low tech to high tech depending on what is needed, and that many organizations that serve folks who need these devices are involved in their research and development, and procurement for those folks-so there's lots of money out there to make these better.

He suggested looking at the ALS site ( ALS.org), site for starters. I looked at it, found links under "resources", and found information and further links to companies that make these devices. Maybe you've done this, or can get the information from your contacts at your ALS clinic, but this is just in case it might prove helpful. Here's a couple links:

Low Tech Communication Aids

Hope it's a good day for you and DH!

Hi, all. Count me in as one of the busy folks. Lots busier than I'd like to be.

Travelassie, my husband has that cold or whatever and I think I'm coming down with it too. It's hard to tell sometimes when you have allergies.

Cyn, I hope things are going well with you two. Miss ya, gal.

Cyn, you're never alone, you see, because although we may not be at our computers, you are always in our hearts.

I just made us dinner--not easy with his problems but I decided to make some battered fish , of course the usual mashed potatoes (UGH) and some fresh cauliflower--he said the cauliflower was tough when in reality is was wonderful--at least I thought it was. Seems like there is nothing I can make for meals anymore that he likes...
Had a fried call who is trying to get a bunch of cats/kittens spayed and neutered at an affordable price---so not happening here in NC. These vets here are so far behind times it amazes me..it is crazy! See..that was the reason I had to win that lottery--no more cost for spay and neuter in NC animals! Didn't happen though...maybe another time....

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday was a busy day. DH sold a large chromed part for a Corvette and I had to package it. It weighed 37 lbs and of course it had to be super wrapped so it would not get damaged. I did my best with double boxing and lots of bubble wrap etc but I still worry over expensive items. Of course it is insured but still.....I think I hurt my rotater cuff again with turning the box over and over and then carrying it into the truck and then the post office..ugh. Then we took a truck load of trash to the dump because we don't have trash pick up here. I do it regularly so as not to end up with to much trash. Problem is now I have to load and unload it from the side of the truck without taking down the back gate of the truck cause the wheelchair lift is there so I have to put it in the truck and then toss it out over the side--just to much for one day for my shoulder I guess. I'll try not to do much heavy work with my right arm today. So my poor DH knows my shoulder is sore and he feels really badly like he isn't doing his part around here. I tried to explain it isn't up to him it is just the way it is. I think it's starting the wear on him though. I really have to work on my attitude too though--with business being so bad I find myself being very negative and that sure isn't helping his mood. So today I am going to work on me! Have a good day everyone!
