I love my HOA.
Keeps cars off the street and campers/boats out of sight.
And I love campers/boats....just do not want to look at yours - LoL.

My next move with be to a piece of land 2-4 acres inside 51.
They are around.
Then I can do what I want: Main house, guest mini house, 4 car garage, Airstream parking, etc.

Mullman: that would be my ideal situation, too. I don't see it ever happening for us, but I will be cheering you on when you can make it happen for your family. :-)

hi, everyone. I won't add to this discussion on HOAs because I am SURE that y'all know my stand on them!!

Just came from a going-away party for a co-worker who moved here from Jersey around 3 years ago and is now moving back. That makes 4 families that I personally know of returning back to Jersey...Brian, the initials are CC. Don't know if you know this one...

I swear if I wasn't in the know I'd need a decoder ring to figure out who you were talking about.

I'm just a fly on the wall. All seemed interesting, tho.

But I am sorry to hear that this many folks in your department (or work space) have moved back to NJ. Was this due to layoffs or just felt it was time to leave b/f the ax falls - or not feeling at home here in CLT? Or do you know?

If it were b/c of jobs, I sure wish people who are coming here w/o jobs would listen to us instead of assuming we are just being mean-spirited. It is very troubling to know people are having to pick up and leave.

One moved back largely because her mom had health issues. At least one moved back following a job and I think one moved back because they couldn't adapt. I think a lot of them are gone either due to layoffs or moving out of the way of possible layoffs.

Yes, exactly. The bottom line of all of the moves was due to the fear of loosing their jobs here. The lady that couldn't adapt was seriously homesick, to the point that it was making her ill. However, she was also seriously stressed out, too, thinking that her job would be eliminated (and not without cause, I might add), so, when she was able to get a job back in Jersey, she jumped on it. This last lady was told, point blank, that she most likely would be loosing her job, so, she made a few phone calls back in Jersey and the Pod is packed. Her husband, who does not speak English well, (they are Portuguese) had a standing job offer from the company that he used to work for up there, while he had a difficult time with jobs here in Charlotte.
