I can name milllions and millions of dollars worth of albums and videos produced here in Atlanta each year you simply can not do that in D.C.. For you to look at those videos and say " Oh that happens everywhere" Would be like me to look at videos of congressional hearings on Capital Hill and say " Oh that happens in every city"
How about DC is also a news media capital behind NYC. Have you ever heard of FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CSPAN, Radio One, BET, and the ATL'S own CNN. Atlanta is significant because of hip hop and it's dirty south movement. More movies are made in DC than Atlanta. But you do have Tyler Perry. LOL

I checked some other things out too. I found out that the WMATA Red Line goes to Rockville and up to Shady Grove. Montgomery County is not only served by Ride On, it is served by WMATA, and MARC. It would be better to have one large, regional system, but at least Montgomery County has WMATA Rail.

Part of the reason MARTA is not as expansive as it should is is rooted in history and in certain attitudes.

Back in the 1970's MARTA was being built. Residents in Cobb County and Gwinnett County didn't want the MARTA rail. Some residents didn't want the Black people from Atlanta getting access into Cobb and Gwinnett, thinking under the assumption of Blacks not having cars. At the time both counties had tiny Black populations. This is quite ironic because now both counties(Cobb County particularly) have large Black populations. There are some residents who argue that crime would rise if MARTA rail got into Cobb County. Some people equate mass transit with poverty. There are also some today who equate it with socialism, communism, government control, and in general, some residents don't want to pay tax to have it.

This is part of why I don't go into Atlanta more. Transit is a nightmare.

If it were between Atlanta and DC, I would probably enjoy DC more for nightlife, as I would imagine there is more for me to get into.

Yeah, but that doesn't really have anything to do with nightlife. I can hear the advertisement now: "What's good Chocolate City? Come out and party wit ya boy Bret Baier at Lux Lounge, you know my girl Sarah Palin is gonna be in the house too."

Yeeeaaaaahhhhh.....lol.

DC offers way more nightlife options than Atlanta. Just walking from Dupont Circle up to Woodley Park and then over to Adams Morgan and back down to U Street/Little Ethiopia, there is so much more action to see than getting into your car and driving to a strip mall to party.

I don't drive or have a car, so DC might be a better fit for me in general. I don't even party much anymore.

Yeah people do. Are you serious? ATL is a premier party spot for blacks in the US. "I'm going to ATL for my Bday". I've heard that a hundred times.

But that's where you are wrong. I went to a CNN party at Union Station and they rented out the entire hall and had a few R&B acts there. These stations throw big a$$ parties with open bar. Contrary to what most of you people believe, most politicians drink and party but they do some exclusive over the top type of sh&t that the average joe doesn't get access to. DC is king when it comes to these type of events. Every Embassy in the world is here. So on any night, you can go to a party at the Brazilian Embassy or an event at the World Bank or a reception at the DNC and hear a live band, get your drink on and have a good time. This happens every night in DC. Atlanta doesn't offer this.
