Just an addition to what BajanYankee said on the people who to go to Bar 7. Same crowd is at the locations I just named. DC night life for Blacks isn't that much different than every other city to me.
I would say it's not much different from Atlanta overall. It is different from most cities. Though the Black nightlife in both cities today isn't what it once was. Gentrification--probably more so in DC than ATL--has really altered the balance of things.
If you're looking for that buppie crowd, Mondays at Marvin is really the only place in DC that's going to give you that consistently. Otherwise, it's a more "word of mouth" type of place.

What the article you posted says and what you said are entirely different. You said "for every single man in the city, there are another 80,000 single women." That's not the same as saying that there are 80,000 more single women than men.

If you add up both the population of men and women, there are an additional 80,000 women. I would also guarantee you a good chunk of them are educated too.

I really wish people would stop telling the lie that it's so many more women than men in Atlanta. It's basically even. The reason there are more women at clubs is because women go in larger groups to clubs because of safety reasons generally speaking.
Plus that article is bs. Why are they single? Are they too controlling? Too many kids? Can they cook a meal? Is she single because she works at Waffle House but expects her man to play for the Hawks? Is she overweight? Does she have more than one baby daddy? Will she only date a dude that is 6'5, driving a Benz, with a PhD but also is a thug with good hair and no kids? That's why that article is bs is because they aren't giving the real reasons. I'm sure plenty of guys have hollered at them but they wweren't interested because he didn't have no swag, too short, he doesn't have a nice car, he has a blue collared job, he cant dress or some other dumb reason

We can simply look at the ACS data. There are 70,691 more "educated" Black women than men in the Atlanta metro. The difference in the DC metro is 41,677. So Black men in the DC metro have a higher rate of educational attainment. From a professional Black woman's perspective, that's a good thing. For professional Black men, that means stiffer (no pun intended) competition.

DC is strictly a Go Go and/or Lounge city. Atlanta is a strip club and party city. Now it has a good underground scene and the average person doesn't know about.
Atlanta nightlife is more diverse as far as options than it used to be. Atlanta nightlife is way more diverse than going to the club and popping bottles. TI is about to open a 4 floor restaurant that will turn into a lounge at night. As for lounges we got BQE Lounge, Sweet Auburn Seafood, Cirque, Cafe circa, the new Bar One opens soon, Gold Room, Sound Table, Suite, Etc, etc. Plus we have plenty of monthly events like Old School Saturday, Eargasms, Soul of Jazz, Atl in the Park, Boom Bap Saturday, Love Jones Sunday, Playdate, Spreadlove, Kick ' in up dust, Sunday School, Sunday Dinner, etc, etc. Thing is the average person doesn't know everything Atlanta has to offer because it's not handed to you. You have to do some hard digging to find these events but they are there. Plenty of them. We got a nice reggae scene with reggae clubs on the eastside going to 4/5am in the morning. He got a huge house music scene here since we have so many people from NY, NJ and Chicago here. Atlanta scene has so many options once you scratch the surface. Heck we got at least 30 venues in the metro area that are open until 4am- 6am each week

In Manhattan and Brooklyn, I'm guessing that most of the AA population with degrees are concentrated in a handful of census tracts in Harlem, Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant.
My last 3 cities I lived in were Los Angeles, Seattle and DC. Though DC has the most blacks it was my least favorite. It seemed to be the least progressive. And everything is always about race. The so-called black professionals only hang out amongst themselves and when they come out to visit me that's who they want to be with, and no one else. I can't believe people act this way. Everytime I go back to DC it always reminds me of a small southern town more so than a big city.
I choose cities that offer things that interest me. Great food, great weather, abundant cultural amenities, great jazz scene, in city hiking, ocean minutes away, low humidity, great skiing, and so on. DC needs to come out of the southern 50's.
Doesn't seem to be everyone's experience but whatever.
Plenty of spots in DC have no dress code like Lux Lounge, Ibiza, every Go Go spot and even Park is ratchet at night
Like ATL's ratchetness doesn't show every now and then either or any other city for that matter
