Why is Houston often Overlooked as a Leader in Growth and Stability? Its Overall Economy is doing far better(by a large margin) than many other Economies. Is Houston the Model City that Most Cities need to follow?
I strongly disagree that its overlooked. It just isn't as "sexy" as Austin.
Sarcasm? Please re-read my post. You won't find a single negative comment about Houston. In fact, this thread has awakened me to the reality that Houston is the best city anywhere and by any measure.

When people want to see the landmarks of antiquity, they flock to Houston, not Rome or Athens. When people want a cosmopolitan, dense, urban scene, they head to Houston' Galleria mall, not NYC or Paris. When people want world-class snow skiing, they ski down Houston's many landfill hills, rather than Whistler or Zermatt. When people want gorgeous scenery they all congregate in Houston's Cancer Alley of refineries, not along the California Coast or or Hudson Valley...
It looks to me that any advocacy of Houston on this forum is seen as overly defiant and must be shot down immediately to restore the natural order of the multiverse. Get over it, Houston is not going away, with or without zoning, or mass transit.....

What has been dismantled? That Houston doesn't have something that is unique for visitors to plan a vacation in Houston for? That hasn't been dismantled. It's basically been agreed upon. Museums? You mentioned that Houston has space activities, but hardly anyone around the nation knows about it. You mention Texas history. But hardly anyone around the nation knows about it. There's a reason for that.
I so wanna know why people think it's overlooked but I don't wanna sift through 36 pages to find it.

And just like that, you prove your inability to grasp simple nuances. You state that "its been agreed upon" that Houston doesn't offer anything unique (that absolutely nothing about the city sticks out to people, or can be marketed), but then turn around, and name aspects special to Houston, but aren't "known about" in the nation (implying that there are indeed unique things in Houston, just that the nation doesn't know about them).
Make up your mind; There is a huge difference between a place having absolutely nothing unique about it, versus said place having unique things, only that the populace hasn't been exposed to them. This is just what you aren't grasping, along with several others in this thread.

It's neither. No place on earth has "nothing unique" yet just because a place is somewhat generic (like a Houston) doesn't mean marketing is the main issue.
It isn't that people don't know Houston; it's that they know Houston all to well. They don't visit Houston because there's nothing to draw them there.
