Seriously, what is really going on in Cleveland to have 29 murders already? Are these murders concentrated in one part of town or are they scattered throughout?
Have the suburbs such as University Heights, Lakewood, or Mayfield Heights had any murders yet this year?

Cleveland has always had a high murder rate and was ranked as the 7th most dangerous city in the US a few years back. This year it was ranked 11th if Im not mistaken. It has also been ranked the poorest city in the US over 250k twice, 2nd poorest this year. As far as the worst major cities in crime and poverty, its right behind Detroit, St. Louis, and New Orleans.

A few of the inner ring suburbs have high crime rates, especially East Cleveland. Most of the suburbs in the area are nice though. Those suburbs you mentioned are pretty safe. There are always a few murders in the Cleveland suburbs, in 2007 there were around 30.

I saw part of The Mayor's recent City Club speech. He said, (in summary) it is under control and they are making great progress.
