Hotels will not come back. We'll see a much smaller, nationwide, want based economy. Wants being restaurants, hotels, entertainment.

Much of the want based economy is leveraged to the max, and cannot sustain months w/o income.

Precisely why Homewood Suites near Hartford closed permanently this week. Many in NYC are doing the same.

Fortunately for Ct, we do not have much in the "want based economy" style of jobs. Other than, I do fear for the ESPN employees, as frankly, w/o large scale sports events, they might as well be showing infomercials 24/7.

The retail and hospitality jobs can come back very quickly. The big hit will be if office or manufacturing employers close shop or use this as a chance to make big head count cuts.

Not optimistic, as retail has far more ToysRUs than public knows, meaning incredibly high debt loads (ToysRUs had 1.5 Bill debt before pe bought them!). Hotels in same boat. Surviving debt payments is what alarms me, all over the nation.

I will. Did you read the Courant article on the Homewood Suites closing permanently btw?

PS: Chase to close 20% of US branches.

Chase temporarily closing.

Not saying there won't be casualties. There will be.

I don't believe all branches reopen, by any stretch of the imagination. Just as I do not expect all closed malls nor stores to reopen.

The casualties will be massive.

I have known people already having their employment adversely affected.

Yes, yes I do.
Panic and hysteria is unhealthier than the virus itself. Agree, we need to look out for the elderly and poor, absolutely.
Humans have short memories, the psche impact won't be on the scale of a 911. Humans are great at overcoming long odds.
Bob and Friends think the world is going to end. I don't. We wont see Thunderdome unless its Mel Gibson and Tina Turner. We won't need another hero.
When the dust settles, I believe we're going to see the stock market rally of the century. The DOW will be at 30K by years end. Bob and Co. are counting on it for their exalted hero to remain in office.

Also when we're in the clear, world leaders need to come together and take a good hard look at China. Figure out what the hell is going on down there and tell them to get their s&%t together.
