That would most likely result in a google search showing the effect it will have, which will be to tax everyone, but Sanders doesnt run around telling everyone that will be the result.. Thats not really the same thing..

It would be like googling to see how ACA will not insure everyone, and then claiming that because it doesnt, then claim that was obamas position, but clearly its not.

Bernie Sanders Says Proposed Payroll Tax ‘Would Hit Everyone’

However, when pressed by Stephanopoulos about whether the proposed Senate tax legislation he backs, which would use a payroll tax to fund a mandate for 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave from all U.S. employers, Sander confirmed that the bill would require taxing all citizens -– not just the top 1 percent.

"[The payroll tax] would hit everyone –- yeah, it would.

That's just the start, sales tax would need to increase on everyone, income tax would need to increase on everyone and these things would be like HOA fees, where they virtually never come down and just slowly keep getting higher and higher.

I've always voted. Well, since 1980.
But you are not an island onto yourself. It's not enough that you and me vote for candidates that are not mouthpieces of the corporate elite, the rich and the special interests. It's not enough. And that's what we see. The rich have just gotten richer, and use their money to buy candidates and rig the system to their advantage. We need public funding of elections if we are to survive as a decent place to live.

So I can get what? $500,000 to run for president?

You don't need public funding, you just need to research candidates instead of getting all your information from tv and facebook ads. Why are people so lazy these days? They don't want to work and then complain they don't have money. They don't want to research candidates and then they complain elections are bought.

Sales tax on everyone is far better than a massive $10 000 a year private health insurance cost and a $100 000 co-pay when getting cancer. That's as regressive as it gets.

See, this is part of the problem. Every society with a strong middle class pay taxes in order to get a proper social safety net that benefits the 99%. The rich in America have set up the current system by means testing programs so that the middle class is pitted against the poor. And this understandably causes the middle class to hate "welfare" and show contempt for the poor because they get the benefits while the middle class pay more in taxes. The rich dont want any universal programs like a national health insurance system which they know will be very popular and which is immensely popular among the middle class in every country that has it. Because people get something out of it. It's not these American charity welfare programs. Candidates advocating means testing left and right is a good indicator that the candidate is a mouthpiece of the well-heeled and powerful.

In Oregon for example, ever tax payer can donate $50 to a political candidate and get $50 tax credit back on the following tax return.

It's one way to get regular people to run for office without having to beg the rich for money.

I find it odd that the very individuals who run around shouting about how great the economy is, i.e. look at the stock market..

could possibly consider supporting Sanders..

That makes no sense, given a payroll tax goes to the government, while the mandates for things like 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave, is funded by the employer..

How does paying more money to the government, afford the ability of someone else to pay for something?
