The white turnips....I seldom use, but Dad used to cube them, boil and then put in a white sauce. He also did that with kolrabi....which has a similar taste.
I love kolrabi, raw in salads or steamed with butter - haven't had it for a while - could it be the season soon?

I think they are a fall or early spring vegtable. I was surprised to see them in the store the last time I went.

I just had to look them up! You are right about the seasons, but apparently Texas can grow them year-round - fab!

movingtohouston same problem here when other kids come over they won't touch veggies or fruit. My kids do so I am blessed since we put out a garden they might get hungry otherwise.

We did finally get one neighbor boy to eat a banana this summer as he won't touch anything with a seed in it his mom said. Even when I cut up apples or oranges he won't eat it. Even turns down strawberry fruit smoothies because "he can taste the seeds".

Decided not to use the hoisin but just dip the thighs in egg, coat with crushed fried onion rings and bake. Just not ambitious today.

Hubby is working until the crack of midnight tonight so I figured as long as the kids were gonna get messy cookin' dinner why not let them go all out and mess up the kitchen entirely? Right? Betty Crocker can't mess up a cupcake too bad.... so, why not try it? LOL.... NO PIE CRUST..... I am not a pie lady.... the Dough Boy can help me with that.... thank you kindly.... ugh... off to shove more clothes into the drawers......

Thanks Elston, unfortunately I don't have applesauce or potatos. I think I found a recipe that might work, basically slice them, boil them and cover them in a cheese sauce. I will give it a try and report the results tommorrow.

ETA: I will save your recipes for when I make a grocery store run though. They sound really tasty.
