Would you say it was in the '90s? The quality of life and such here. Pretty much everyone agrees America today isn't as good a place to live as it was in say, 1970 or something like that.
I disagree. Crime is much better now than it was then and we take for granted many things that were not even invented or were rare back in the 70's. The standard of America has risen in the longhaul over time. The only downtick is the recent recession.
I'd say the decline started in 08, but that may or may not last!
Either way, I'm hopeful. Especially as the Chinese standard of living/middle class rises, it will eventually be more reasonable to produce goods here again.
Also, maybe we'll see the reestablishment of matched tariffs to bolster our local economies as well. That's a dream, though. It'll never happen.

The well being for the average American has substantially improved over the decades.
Products are lasting longer.
Things are becoming cheaper.
Americans are living longer.
We have access to better medical technology.
We have became better educated.
The only problem we have is a widen income gap, but those aspects I mentioned above compensate for income inequality.

China has a long way to go. There are still a large percentage of Chinese who want to immigrate to the US to escape the ills of China.

The 1960s of course. Everything went downhill after that.

I'd say by just about every measurable standard, life today is much better than 1970. How would you figure otherwise?
I would say the overall quality of life has been declining in many areas since the 1990s or earlier. The only areas during very well are the super wealthy corporate suburban areas, Silicon Valley, NYC, and some other select locales.

Most people, including me, would gree that America offers a lower quality of life now than in decades before. I would say it started in the mid 90's though

Americans are living longer. This can be a positive and a negative... it will result in us having to fix SS and Medicare because of so many people living longer

Uh, no we are not, schools are in terrible shape and people are generally given degrees where they are a cog in a machine and not thinkers with common sense
