6-sights in construction and proposals for more ongoing with Amazon or not and 2 called wildcards. Furthest already along is the former Post Office sight building with a move-in ready finish of spring 2019.
Frankly very few American cities have a good reputation outside the US but Boston is definitely one of them. When people think of Bos-NY-Wash, they think precisely that...........old wealth, liberal, and academic Boston, cultural and economic powerhouse NYC, and the political bastion of Washington. Philly doesn't even rank. It's not so much it has a bad reputation internationally but rather that it doesn't have any reputation. When people think of Philly they might think of thr Liberty Bell like when people think of Cincinnati they think of a radio station.
When did this become a thread about why people do/don't like Boston?
FYI - Amazon's due date for the RFP is coming up next Thurs. Bezos will likely be dumping lots of reams of RFP proposals in the next recycling pick-up day...

Exactly, a day after the deadline > go grab the proposals from the 5 cities we already selected and let's see who can give us the sweetest deal. Throw the rest in the trash.
MSN has weighed in, though I'm not sure this wasn't published before. They do seem to have it dialed down, however, and add Los Angeles, and wait, what...Seattle.
What if Amazon throws a curve ball and decides to build multiple "HQ2" locations.
It makes sense if you think about it.
If you split up those 50,000 jobs into 5 different locations (Boston, Atlanta, Denver, Austin, (insert any other location), they would cover the entire US tech market. They wouldn't have to worry about retention as much, and they don't have to worry about completely taking over a city.
Just because they published their RFP doesn't mean they have to follow through. And hell, maybe this was all their plan? Get the cities to start thinking, gain nation wide publicity, then come back and be able to expand into multiple cities.

I seriously doubt they would all be called headquarters facilities though...probably major operations centers.
This is all kind of like the Miss America pageant....50 of them go away crying! Fun to opine tho!
