I think part of the problem is that we aren't being told WHERE people are picking up the virus. The numbers are increasing, we see the daily count, but WHERE have these people been that they are getting exposed. That's what I'd like to know. I had been ok with going out to eat and going to outdoor events (apple picking, a corn maize recently). The apple picking and corn maize venue weren't particularly crowded and were outdoors and many people had on masks.

Also if someone does choose to do indoor dining and they're not at full capacity you kind of have to wonder what are the odds of actually picking up the virus at a restaurant? If there have been 3500 cases on a weekly basis in the whole state of MA, what are the odds of running into these people for many?

I believe that there are a lot more numbers that are not being reported and that's where the problem is. There are also other illnesses that people are coming down with like cold, strep throat. I imagine that many people might truly just have a cold. Others might assume they have a cold when it's actually covid. I think opening things up again could be disastrous. But here we go.

Would be nice if that data could be compiled, but it's only as good as what a person reports.

If a person is out socializing regularly and comes down to it, how does their transmission method get reported if in the previous 5-7 days they were out eating in a restaurant, at a indoor bday party for one of their friends, at work, traveling up to NH to find a bar that is open, etc etc. Any one of those could be a transmission method

I think medical experts are now recommending a 5 day wait after exposure before testing. It's been 4-5 days since her exposure, so the timing does seem to support that recommendation.

My friend in Cambridge was exposed at her geriatric dementia job, tested negative (64 and no co-morbities) developed symptoms 10 days later with severe symptoms. Never lung issues, no hospitalization and would be "recovering at home," as was her wife at home. Still fatigued some brain fog five months later. That "recovering at home" can be a huge deal to.

Would be something if an outdoor gathering like that was concluded to be a superspreader event. Certainly would change the way we think of some of the events we attend now.

The crazy thing is...the people who have gotten it (so far) weren't sitting near each other.

Yes, but they may not have exchanged virus at that event - Trump, Hope Hicks, Kayleigh McEnany, Chris Christie (and I think other White House team members infected), have been working together outside of that Rose Garden event... in other group settings as well as 1:1. Not saying the Rose Garden ceremony was smart or responsible, mind you, but we don't know where the deed was done.
